Description
Providence is seeking a Senior Clinical Informatics Specialist who will:
Facilitate onboarding workflow sessions and ongoing EHR efficiency training for physicians and APCs through individual and group sessions.
Serve as an expert role model in promoting the understanding, integration, and application of information technology in healthcare settings with focus on inpatient physicians and advanced practice clinicians (APCs).
Be a leader who applies advanced education and experience to effectively address complex challenges in diverse healthcare delivery environments.
Act as a liaison between clinical care and information technology, assisting physicians and APCs throughout the care continuum in the full life cycle of clinical technology projects.
Have team leadership skills delivered in a complex, highly stressful environment, demonstrating expert use of clinical technology, information sciences and fundamentals of project management with a customer service focus.
Promote the use of evidence-based clinical practice.
Provide Informatics leadership in initial and ongoing Electronic Health Record (EHR) training and competency validation to physicians and APCs and coordinates curriculum development activities.
Be a subject matter expert expected to demonstrate the knowledge and experience necessary to pass national informatics certification exams (such as the CPHIMS examination, ANCC Nursing Informatics Board Certification or similar Informatics certification) as well as the necessary knowledge to pass EHR vendor certifications.
Be licensed in a clinical discipline (e.g., nursing, respiratory therapy, etc.) to bring required comprehensive understanding of clinical process and practice standards, patient flow and operational processes.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Clinical discipline, Information Technology/Informatics, Business, Education, Management, Communications, or related field or equivalent educ/experience.
2 years in a position that has the same or similar primary duties working with a clinical information system within a healthcare setting.
Experience with EHR systems.
Experience with benefits and challenges of adult learning.
Preferred Qualifications:
Informatics certifications or credentialing upon hire (may be equivalent for up to 2 years of experience for this position at the hiring manager’s discretion).
In this position you will:

Education/Coaching:
Lead and model design and implementation of workflow training consistent with current national informatics and adult learning standards.
Design and spearhead communication projects around technology changes, upgrades, and downtimes to physicians and APCs.

Demonstrate expertise in accurately analyzing and prioritizing issues, determining best course of action to promote resolution.
Customer Service:
Demonstrate excellent communication skills in documenting, evaluating and prioritizing clinical users’ requested system improvements.
Ensure timely follow-up communication with physicians and APCs regarding issue resolution.
Act as a change agent, assisting physicians and APCs with the dynamic nature of clinical information systems.
Teamwork:
Be skilled at leading and integrating groups of diverse disciplines in collaborative activities.
Demonstrate expertise in effective interactions and positive interpersonal skills in order to maximize productivity and positive employee relations.
Clinical Support:
Gain understanding of system/ministry data needs, especially for physicians and APCs.
Lead planning for full life cycle for clinical information systems.
Evaluate outcomes with the use of clinical information systems, and develop, deliver and measure intervention.
Stay current with regulatory standards, management and healthcare issues and trends, and legal implications.
Support customer access to reports.
Professional Development:
Maintain and demonstrate current knowledge of industry trends.
Actively seek opportunities to apply this knowledge to practice.
Mentor peers in their Informatics related professional development.
Environmental and Working Conditions:
Work in back-to-back appointments with physicians and APCs, with multiple interruptions requiring resourcefulness and problem solving.
