Austin, TX !Position Description:The Part-time Nursing Faculty/Subject Matter Expert for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Pre-licensure program shall report to the CONHS Assistant Dean/Dean at the respective campus. The Faculty will develop curriculum, administer and teach/manage the learning experience in the online/clinical/and location-based setting(s). The faculty is expected to lay the foundation for nursing expectations and the skills necessary to be successful BSN graduates. They are tasked with administering a program that is committed to engaging students, assessing student learning and skills, and supporting the achievement of student academic goals. The faculty is expected to help secure the minimum NCLEX first-time pass rates of the location’s state.Major/Essential FunctionsDevelop and design prelicensure nursing program proposalDevelop, design and establish founding nursing curriculumDesign and propose major curricular changes to the dean of nursing as needed; participate in the implementation and evaluation of learning outcomesTeach Prelicensure courses as neededCollaborate with the registrar’s office, student services, academic advisers, deans, and the Office of Field Experience (OFE) as needed to enhance learning experiences for studentsCollaborate with OFE to ensure clinical experiences are appropriate and approve preceptor qualificationsAttend and participate in all College of Nursing meetingsParticipate in University-wide committeesTake part in major academic events such as graduation as requiredParticipate in exhibiting at conferences as requestedAssist with all accreditation projects and activitiesMaintain active membership in select national nursing organizationsParticipate in continuing education opportunities to remain current in rolePrevious ExperienceExperience teaching in online nursing education requiredSubstantive experience in nursing higher education, nursing practice, and leadership rolesKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesMSN degree is requiredUnencumbered Licensure as a Registered NurseSubstantive teaching, leadership and clinical experienceExperience teaching in a collegiate program; experience with the application of evidence into clinical practiceExperience teaching in a prelicensure program preferredExperience with distance learning and online academic technologyWork EnvironmentThe essential functions of the job are usually performed in an environmentally controlled facility where the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. This position may involve working in a combination of office and classroom environments. While performing the job duties, the employee is regularly required to sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee may sometimes be required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
