Solar Project Engineer

Solar Project EngineerFully RemoteKey Responsibilities:
Oversee multidisciplinary engineering tasks for photovoltaic facility designs, including civil, electrical (low and medium voltage), battery storage, and structural engineering for assigned projects.
Manage contracting, scheduling, design reviews, and collaboration with third-party engineers.
Develop preliminary site layouts, including racking structures, equipment placements, and single-line diagrams.
Generate energy production models, incorporating shading analyses.
Ensure design plans comply with permitting authorities, utility interconnection requirements, jurisdictional regulations, and client specifications.
Conduct initial site assessments and visit active construction sites to verify adherence to design standards.
Manage procurement tasks, including equipment selection, vendor negotiations, and preliminary logistics.
Collaborate closely with clients to ensure the system design and project delivery align with their expectations.
Assist in managing project finances to ensure adherence to budget.
Support project management and development teams as needed.
Review prime contracts, proposals, and development opportunities.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
At least three years of experience in designing Ground Mount Solar PV Systems (5MW and above).
Proficiency in Electrical, Civil, and Structural design elements of Ground Mount Solar PV systems.
Experience with energy production modeling using PVSyst.
Medium Voltage design experience is a plus.
Familiarity with CAD and PVCASE software.
Field engineering experience preferred.
Knowledge in equipment selection and procurement.
Ability to manage project timelines from inception to commercial operation.
Capable of working independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
Skilled in interpreting technical instructions and effective communication.
Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
Experience in managing and collaborating with third-party engineers to meet deadlines.
Strong customer-facing skills and excellent written and verbal communication.
Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
