Senior Systems Administrator onsite at our office near the NASA center in Houston, TX.

This position provides system administration and support for the business network and Remote Operation Center (ROC) networking and system hardware in Houston, Texas. Relocation assistance will be considered.Job SummaryAs a Senior Systems Administrator at our remote operations center, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our clients' SCADA systems and industrial processes. You will be responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, and managing our clients' remote infrastructure, collaborating closely with our team of experienced professionals. The Sr. Systems Administrator will work closely with the Systems Engineer, operations, managed services provider and integration team to maintain system cyber security and NERC compliance, focusing on both IT operations and OT operations related to SCADA and critical infrastructure environments.Job FunctionsSupport the maintenance and administration of systems including installing, patching, and upgrading workstations, servers, switches, firewalls, SD-WANs, VOIP telecommunications, and other supporting hardware.Ensure that systems and network infrastructure adhere to industry regulatory standards such as NERC and other industry IT security standards. Maintain compliance through regular assessments and updates.Experience configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Windows Server roles, such as Active Directory, DFS, DHCP, DNS, RDS, NPS, CA and other roles for business needs.Ensure the integrity and availability of the overall IT infrastructure, including servers (both physical and virtual), applications, networking, and telecommunications through proactive monitoring and maintenance.Coordinate with managed service providers for server management, security solutions, network hardware, and equipment upgrades.Assist with industrial Ethernet and Fiber networking in the operational technology (OT) space, focusing on setup, configuration, and management of communication equipment.Work with various hardware and data center hardware vendors, including HP, Dell, Lenovo, Cisco, SonicWall, Fortinet, Synology. Experience with multiple vendors is a plus.Utilize infrastructure software and solutions to maintain hardware, such as VMware, Hyper-V, Datto backup, Veeam backup, Antivirus, VPN, TV, monitoring tools, and more.Document and maintain current Remote Operations Center (ROC) processes, IT policies, and procedures, including the creation, updating, and retirement of outdated documentation.Travel to sites as needed to install/configure hardware, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and establish system communications when required. Continued monitoring and maintenance of hardware, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.High-level troubleshooting and resolution of technical issues related to IT/OT operations with both hardware and software.Collaborate with clients to understand their IT requirements and provide appropriate solutions.Stay abreast of the latest industry trends and technologies to enhance skills and knowledge.Critical BehaviorsAbility to see tasks through to completion without significant guidance.Remains even-handed under pressure.Provides timely responses to issues.Assesses complex situations and data to identify process improvement opportunities.Ability to break down technical problems from high-level down to a technical level.Optimizes the utilization and efficiency of resources.Maintains high performance standards: business acumen, time management, and organization.Knows when to ask for assistance to maintain business continuity.A willingness to learn new hardware, software and ever-changing industry standards and practices.Education and ExperienceBachelor’s in computer science, information technology, relevant engineering field, or 4+ years of relevant industry experience.Minimum of 3+ years of experience in a systems administrator role.Mid-tier level and above system administrator experience.Industry certifications are preferred but not required with relevant experience.Experience in power generation or industrial control systems is a plus but not required.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesCommunicates and collaborates with internal and external customers in a respectful and professional manner.Strong computer skills (knowledge of Windows Desktop and Server Operating Systems inside and out) and experience configuring industrial control systems.Moderate understanding of networking principles (DNS, TCP/IP, routing, switching, VPN, VLAN, Subnets).Self-motivated and eager to learn, with a passion for technology and innovation.Able to multitask when needed.The functions of this job are conducted onsite at the Houston ROC office.Work schedule is Monday - Friday, with occasional holidays and weekends as needed.All necessary equipment/tools will be provided.Physical AbilitiesExtended hours of computer screen time and keyboard operation are required.
