We focus on the transcatheter replacement or repair of the four heart valves—aortic, pulmonic, mitral, tricuspid—and the placement of stent grafts to treat aneurysms and dissections of the body’s largest artery, the aorta. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Structural Heart and Aortic R&D team as a key contributor to the strategic development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) technology. The AI/ML Data Science Engineer will be responsible for the AI/ML technology development execution, engaging with partners within R&D as part of a team to create AI/ML tools to accelerate innovation to advance care of patients.The successful candidate will have a strong background in AI/ML Data Science technology and the ability to connect the clinical and business needs to innovation potential. As AI/ML Data Science Engineer within the Research & Technology team, you will help to design, implement, and test Machine Learning projects to support other engineers and researchers on the extended R&D team. AI/ML R&T team is responsible for developing solutions that allow us to scale and accelerate our understanding of device and therapy performance from raw imaging data including raw DICOM CT, ultrasound, and video. This includes (but is not limited to) performing tasks such as object detection, localization and tracking, segmentation and understanding. For these tasks, we rely on imaging data recorded before, during and after the procedures. You will collaborate with our other mechanical engineers, device engineers, research experts and the extended organization.Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills are a must. Overall responsibility will be for execution of AI/ML technology projects for the SH&A operating unit. This includes, but is not limited to the following:Develops and programs integrated software algorithms to structure, analyze and leverage data in product and systems applications in both structured and unstructured environments.Write and peer-review Python code, with an emphasis on efficiency and scalability, on code repositories using Git (GitHub and GitLab).Develops and communicates descriptive, diagnostic, predictive and prescriptive insights/algorithms.Responsible for developing machine learning models for image analysis.Completes programming and implements efficiencies, performs testing and debugging.Completes documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance.Applies deep learning technologies to give computers the capability to visualize, learn and respond to complex situations.Adapts machine learning to areas such as virtual reality, augmented reality, artificial intelligence, robotics and other products that allow users to have an interactive experience.Can work with large scale computing frameworks, data analysis systems and modeling environments.Expected to present your results within the technical engineering team stakeholders.Must Have: Minimum Requirements (To be considered for this role, please ensure the minimum requirements are evident on your resume):Bachelors degree required in Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemistry or related Scientific Discipline.Minimum 2 years of experience in medical device product development or 0 years of experience with an advanced degree.Demonstrated aptitude for assessing chemical process technology.Demonstrated business acumen, executive presence, and communication skills.Proven skills in quantitative analysis and data-driven decision making.Demonstrated skills in influence management.About MedtronicTogether, we can change healthcare worldwide. here .The provided base salary range is used nationally (except in certain CA locations). The rate offered is compliant with federal/local regulations and may vary by experience, certification/education, market conditions, location, etc. Base pay is based on numerous factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.Benefits & CompensationMedtronic offers a competitive Salary and flexible Benefits Package. PR) locations (USD): $124,000.00 - $186,000.00.This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location.
