Senior/Staff Software Engineer, Behavioral Planning

About the role:We are seeking senior or staff software engineers to join our planning team to build motion planning and decision-making systems and help mature new products all the way through to production. Our planning team calculates safe paths for the autonomous vehicle to follow using mapping data, localization data, waypoints, and predicted actors around the vehicle. Your contribution will improve planning for emergency situations and planning for complicated maneuvers such as loading dock access and variable lane changes.This role is onsite 4 days a week at our Mountain View, CA office!What you'll do:Build and improve algorithms throughout the motion planning stack, which could include things ranging from route planning, trajectory optimization, and decision makingWork with the research engineers to develop maintainable, scalable, testable software designs and implementationsDevelop policies and plans to manage multi-actor interactions and plans under uncertaintyIntegrate remote guidance requests and autonomy behaviors into the remote assist systemTake algorithms from conception to implementation and deploymentTest algorithms in simulation, in-vehicle in a controlled environment, and ultimately in a vehicle in the fieldSupport all technical aspects of developmentWhat we're looking for:Masters’ or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics or related field5+ years of related experienceExpertise in large-scale cloud infrastructure, e.g. G-Cloud or AWSIndustry experience with software development for autonomous vehiclesExperience with C/C++, PythonExperience in code optimization or high-performance computingExperience writing numerical optimization algorithmsExperience working with large data setsProficiency in modern container technologies including Docker and KubernetesExperience in working in applied research teamsExperience in applying machine learning for planning problems (e.g. Imitation Learning, Behavior Prediction, Reinforcement Learning)Taking care of our team:At Gatik, we connect people of extraordinary talent and experience to an opportunity to create a more resilient supply chain and contribute to our environment’s sustainability.
