As the Enterprise Architect / Operations Lead at Raytheon, you will contribute to and execute the strategic and daily cadence for the Digital Technology Architecture Center of Excellence (CoE) team. This small team of senior architects is responsible for scaling, operating and maturing our architecture practice across Digital by providing consistent frameworks, roles, processes, and technology patterns to create trusted, compliant and efficient solutions together.

You will collaborate with peer enterprise and solution architects, stakeholders, and leaders across organizations to ensure the operating model and key activities are executed, documented, and organized across our Digital team. You will be accountable for our team cadence, program activities, and extended team collaboration events. You will manage our architecture repository, knowledgebase, intranet presence, and standard work.

This experienced senior individual contributor will report to the Enterprise Architecture Leader in Raytheon Digital, but also works across Digital teams, business functions, and other RTX businesses to build relationships, assess, understand, and improve the architecture practice. You will provide strategic architectural roadmaps, objectives, establish policy and technological standards. You will also act as a consultant to aid in the development of solutions to drive transformational initiatives and business outcomes.

As an architect, you will use formal architecture frameworks, agile practices, and strategic thinking (including TOGAF, Zachman, Scaled Agile, and CORE) to optimize our work, and coach architects on best practices and agile concepts. You will identify and organize training needs and champion continuous improvement to help all Digital architects execute as a unified community.

What you will do:

Develop architecture artifacts

associated with phases A and B of the TOGAF Architecture Development Method, as needed, for strategic assignments.

Mature Digital Technology’s architecture

practice by establishing shared principles, strategies, and implementation techniques. Contribute to growing the maturity and capabilities of the architecture team.

Advocate for enterprise architecture

by building key influence relationships and socializing architecture contributions across Raytheon.

Conduct architecture review boards, and

guide, schedule, and coach architects and teams through Architecture processes and how to use standard work templates.

Develop and maintain

comprehensive documentation of enterprise architectures, models, and processes for all architects to use.

Develop and manage tools and repositories

for architects to store models, standards, playbooks and publish content on communications sites for easy discovery.

Coordinate activities

and conduct collaboration events with architects and teams across Digital to develop relationships and share knowledge.

Lead team agile planning events and ceremonies

for the Architecture Center of excellence SAFe Agile Release Train. Mentor and support architecture teams in adopting agile practices and best practices.

Manage backlog, risks and opportunities

for Enterprise Architecture to ensure visibility and team prioritization. Align and advocate investment opportunities with finance and portfolio management organizations for execution.

Plan training and learning

events to develop digital skills, capabilities, and grow technical talent through formal Raytheon programs, group classes, and online learning.

Lead CORE continuous improvement

activities to improve productivity and reduce friction for architects in delivering work products.

Qualifications You Must Have:

Typically requires bachelor’s degree and minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience or a master’s degree and minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or in lieu of a bachelor’s degree minimum 14 years of prior relevant experience or associate degree and minimum 12 years of relevant experience is required.

Experience architecting and implementing technology transformation initiatives.

Experience with process improvement, agile planning, and/or leading organizations through change.

The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer:

TOGAF trained or certified with experience using the Architecture Development Method framework to build and mature an enterprise architecture practice.

Experience with organizing and facilitating activities for large teams spread across organizations and locations.

Experience with formal architecture modeling, including UML, BPMN, SysML, and ArchiMate.

Executive presence, strong oral and written communication, and experience with leading change through large initiatives and organizations.

Excellent time and resource management, planning, and project execution skills.

Ability to dive deep and learn most aspects of how a business is structured to create value.

Experience with full lifecycle of IT systems and changes, including planning, design, deployment, and operations.

Ability to use abstraction and simplification to comprehend and communicate complex systems and ideas to different audiences.
