Position Overview:
The Restaurant Expeditor (Expo) is responsible for ensuring smooth flow between the kitchen and tables. You will work in a fast-paced environment to get proper orders out faster and more efficiently. As food expeditor, you must have excellent communication skills and experience in a restaurant's busy setting. The goal is to make service faster and better to help enhance our quality and reputation.
Career Pathing:
This role could expand into Prep and/or Cook III roles after established tenure and internal department training. It depends on the individual to ensure that they are exceeding expectations and seeking guidance/training when offered.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Ensure the efficient flow of orders from the waiters to the kitchenEnsure orders are being prepared with the correct priorityAssist in the final preparation of dishesCheck dishes before delivery for accuracy, presentation and temperatureDeliver orders to maintain fast serviceEliminate obstacles in service, food preparation lines or dishwashingInspect the premises according to quality and sanitation standards and assist in cleaningTransfer important information between the kitchen and the wait staff (e.g. when a customer has a particular request)Handle complaints from clients to preserve the restaurant's reputationSupport other tasks as needed (e.g. telephone orders)Job Requirements:
Proven experience as food expeditor or other restaurant positionUnderstanding of health and safety rules in a restaurantDexterity in using kitchen equipment or utensils and carry heavy traysWell-organized and ability to lead and direct peopleExcellent communication and negotiation skillsOutstanding coordination and multi-tasking abilitiesA customer-oriented approachGreat physical enduranceEducation & Experience
High school diploma or GED or one (1) year equivalent experience preferredValid drivers' license for use of company vehicles may be required for certain roles
