Summary
The Senior Insurance Analyst is responsible for assisting the Director and Manager, Corporate Insurance in the administration of the NiSource Corporate Insurance Programs, which includes but will not be limited to General Liability, Automobile Liability, Workers Compensation, Excess Liability, Property, Executive Liabilities, Surety, Aircraft Liability, and others.
This role is accountable for supporting the Manager, Corporate Insurance in the administration of the annual NiSource corporate insurance renewal, certificate of insurance distribution, surety & performance bond program, facilitating third party loss control and risk assessments and establishing and negotiating contracts and service agreements.
The Corporate Insurance department is responsible for the strategic planning and oversight of NiSource's comprehensive insurance programs and captive, as well as, directing risk management processes in collaboration with other departments to assure employees, customers, and assets are protected. The department functions in a fast-paced corporate environment, with varying tasks and providing key analyses, insights, documentation, dashboards, and metrics
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Senior Insurance Analyst
Coordinates all phases of the insurance program renewal including project timeline development, data collection, review of exposures to identify significant changes in risk exposure, development of submission/application for renewal process, reviewing broker proposals and assisting in making recommendations to senior management.Ensures administration of corrective endorsements, invoices and policies as needed.Obtains and distributes, as required, various evidence of renewal for internal and external stakeholders (certificates of insurance, auto id cards, workers compensation posting notices).Works with Tax Department to ensure compliance on all applicable taxes related to placement of insurance.Assists with the management of critical departmental databases.Acts as an advisor to the business units with respect to coverage terms/conditions, communication of retentions/deductibles, including review of various business contracts.Oversees the issuance of surety bonds for operations and manages the release process.Negotiates effective contract terms to transfer risk and protect NiSource's interests through the review of internal contracts, third party contracts and hold harmless agreements.Facilitates loss control inspections and risk assessments between external consultants and internal stakeholders; oversees assessment of resulting recommendations process; tracks and reports implementation of recommendations to senior management.Provide training and education to key internal stakeholders on insurance processes.Compiles, organizes and formats data, including qualitative analysis required for internal and external reporting. Identifies and researches reporting issues, provides recommendations, assists with the adoption of new reporting requirements and provides support on business case development.Takes action to identify, analyze and improve existing processes within organization to maximize opportunities for efficiency and effectiveness. Recognize exceptions as they occur and resolve problems of varying scope and complexity on own initiative.Lead Insurance Analyst

Leads the development of insurance projects by conducting various analyses. Promotes continuous improvement and innovative approaches.Creates and updates materials to be presented to the Risk Management Committee and other executive audiences.Translates technical analyses into communication materials to effectively present to colleagues for peer review and discussions with stakeholders.Acts as subject matter expert and assists in development of contractual risk transfer strategy specific to insurance terms and conditionsMaintains knowledge of trends in insurance industry, including thorough working knowledge of insurance products, coverage, and pricingIndependently answer questions related to insurability risks and opportunitiesGeneral understanding of insurance captive financials and impact of captive to the parent companyRequired Qualifications for Position
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college/university or equivalent work experience required.Minimum of three to five years of experience in a Legal, Insurance, Claims, or Risk Management departmentStrong skillset in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) is required.Advanced communication skills required. This includes ability to represent the company to external stakeholders, as well as provide presentation support and leadership to senior executives within the company.Strong interpersonal and written communication skills, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, consistency, dependability, willingness/confidence to manage projects and follow-through independently.Strong analytical, innovative and critical thinking skills.Demonstrate sound judgment and initiative in working within departmental and corporate guidelines, including the ability to handle highly confidential information.Strong time management skills, ability to prioritize, and the ability to multi-task effectively.Travel could be expected 10-15%.Time might be required outside of traditional business hoursPreferred Additional Qualifications for Position
Professional designations commensurate with the profession (i.e. AIC, ARM, CPCU, etc.) is a plus.Insurance brokerage or insurance company strongly preferred.Six Sigma background a plus.Proficiency in Risk Management Information System is preferred.
