Position Information:

Are you a skilled tradesperson looking for a fulfilling job opportunity? Look no further than the Great New York State Fair! The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets is hiring for a Trades Generalist position to work in the Maintenance Department at the New York State Fairgrounds. The Trades Generalist will be responsible for performing a range of duties in the repair and maintenance of facilities and equipment. This will include but will not limited to the installation, alteration, and repair of pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, ventilating, heating control, water, and drainage systems according to specification and plumbing codes at the New York State Fairgrounds.

The Fairgrounds are located at 581 State Fair Boulevard in Syracuse, New York, and offers a comfortable work environment, complete with free parking.

The Trades Generalist is a full-time position working 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday from 6:45 am to 3:15 pm.

Salary:

The Trades Generalist position is in the CSEA Salary Grade (SG) 12. The starting salary of the CSEA SG-12 is $48,956/year.

The candidate appointed at the Trades Generalist, SG-12 level, will be eligible to participate in the New York State Performance Evaluation Program. Through this program, employees receive yearly performance evaluations. Performance advances are payable to CSEA employees whose base annual salary is below the job rate for their current position and who were rated "Satisfactory" or its equivalent on their yearly performance evaluation. Performance advance payments are added to an employee's annual salary. Over time, yearly performance advances may lead to the SG-12 job rate salary of $59,757/ year!

Minimum Qualifications:

Non-competitive: four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in skilled trades at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services.

When required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated.

Preferred Qualifications: four years of experience in plumbing or a combination of plumbing experience and training by completion of technical courses in plumbing at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services.
