About the roleWe're seeking an Sr. Electrical Engineer to lead product design and development, with a specific focus on circuit design. In this role, you'll tackle electrical engineering tasks of significant complexity, all while demonstrating a high degree of technical competence. Your responsibilities will include designing hardware, encompassing both discrete circuitry and microcontrollers. Responsibilities Design analog circuits including power supply, amplifiers, and sensorsDesign digital, microprocessor-based circuits with understanding of the firmware requirementsTest prototypes and integrated systems as a part of development processDevelop and institute concepts and solutions to design and application problemsOperate in a team environment, practicing concurrent engineering by working closely with members on the development team, as well as Manufacturing, Marketing, Packaging, and other team membersParticipate in design reviews related to assigned projectsDevelop product specifications with development and marketing teamPerform evaluation of circuits for agency testing; FCC, UL, CSA, etc.Understand manufacturing requirements of the products / systems developed and applying Design for Manufacture, Design for Assembly concepts to all functionsAssist manufacturing by traveling to the manufacturing facilities for engineering sample and pilot run start-ups as requiredPerform tolerance analysis considering high volume productionAssist in component documentation and review of component drawingsEvaluate and approve alternate and second source of componentsUnderstand the markets served by the products / systems developedTroubleshoot field problemsSupport and update existing products as requested through Engineering Change Request (ECR) Identify critical path functions required to meet product availability schedulesDevelop and improve product development processes and other engineering processesPrepare accurate and up-to-date reports for field and executive management QualificationsExtensive knowledge of applying electronic design concepts to high volume consumer electronicsProficiency with analog design simulation tools (Spice Simulators)Proficiency with failure analysis techniques such as DFMEA and PFMEABench and system-level integration / debug / troubleshootingSystem grounding / shielding and EMI mitigation design techniqueStrong project management skillsSolution oriented; thinks creatively to solve problemsAbility to exercise independent judgment with minimal instructions and guidanceMust be able to work in teams and independently, providing mentorship to lower level engineersAbility to use engineering economic analysis for decision making purposesProficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint Education & ExperienceBachelor's degree in electrical engineering or computer science & engineering required.
