UH Lakewood Medical Center
is located between Kansas City and Lee’s Summit, Missouri, offering residents of Eastern Jackson County access to a modern community hospital with a continuum of outpatient services designed to meet the needs of families. UH Lakewood specializes in high-risk maternal and child care, and serves as one of the few Kansas City metro area institutions accredited by The Joint Commission in Orthopedics and Palliative Care. , located in Kansas City’s vibrant Crossroads Arts District, is its epicenter, providing a broad list of outpatient services. We also offer psychiatric inpatient care, and we deliver therapeutic services through our community outreach clinics. We are a leader in the Trauma-Informed Care Movement, and provide training, coaching and consulting to outside organizations.
Job Description
The Patient Access and Scheduling Representative is primarily responsible for assisting patients through scheduling, pre-registration, front desk management, check-in, registration, check-out, as well as patient flow management. The Representative is accountable for creating and verifying accurate demographic and financial information in the financial and clinical record system through telephone or face-to-face contact. The Representative is expert in maintaining accurate, up-to-date demographic and financial information on each patient served. The Representative verifies information through patient-supplied materials or on-line verification as provided by the organization. The Representative communicates health benefit information including the organization’s Discount Policy and financial obligations to patients served. The Representative has primary responsibility for answering all phone calls and requests made to the area of responsibility. The Representative is primarily responsible for securing and maintaining a highly effective and productive clinic schedule.
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required
One year customer service
Communication skills required to interview patients and families, to gather and exchange information with other hospital staff members, physicians, third party payors and resource persons
Concise written communication skills
Proficient in use of computer hardware and software
