Manager, Responsible Care® and Corporate Responsibility

Position Summary
The position is responsible for supporting and enhancing strategic communications, media outreach and stakeholder education for the American Chemistry Council (ACC). The position will focus on communications initiatives which emphasize advancing awareness of Responsible Care®, the chemical industry's leading safety and sustainability initiative, and other Corporate Responsibility (CR) programs. This includes communications support and media outreach for chemical industry programs on safety, environmental stewardship, workforce development, environmental justice, and community engagement, among other issue areas. The position reports directly to the Senior Director, Corporate Responsibility and Community Engagement.
Major Duties and Responsibilities• Develops messaging, blog posts, newsletters and other written content for Responsible Care® and related websites/online platforms• Drafts and distributes press releases and program announcements for Responsible Care and other Corporate Responsibility programs• Identifies opportunities with media and external stakeholders to further awareness of Responsible Care, including speaking opportunities, article submissions and media pitches• Supports executive speaking roles on relevant issue areas, including development of talking points, presentations, and other logistical support• Supports international Responsible Care communications efforts, including website updates, social media content and other global content needs• Supports Responsible Care & Sustainability Conference communications efforts, including registration launch and promotion, social media and blog event highlights as well onsite media engagement and CEO interviews• Supports Responsible Care awards program communications efforts, including promotions strategy and original content development (e.g., blogs, press releases, social media)• Manages program newsletter and paid and organic social media campaigns for industry's leading scholarship program, the Future of STEM Scholars Initiative (FOSSI)• Supports content development for member-facing materials in relevant topic areas, including Board presentations and member communications, as appropriate• Assists in the creation and implementation of external communications strategies and deliverables• Maintains relevant CRM lists• Coordinates with appropriate staff and external partners in relevant issue areas• Identifies, compiles, and distributes relevant communications analysis and reports, as needed.• Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements• Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism or related field.• Three years of experience in communications or relevant field.• Strong written and oral communications skills, including the ability to write quickly, creatively and communicate technical information.• Experience in developing media relationships• Ability to process technical and abstract verbal and written information.• Ability to work independently on a variety of projects with competing tasks/priorities.• Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools and internet research skills.
