Position Description:
Under the direction of the Associate Dean, the clinical nurse educator supervises students in the Accelerated BSN program in clinical areas including the nursing skills and simulation labs. This is a part-time position.
Description:
The clinical educator in the Accelerated BSN Program provides clinical learning experiences for the enrolled student and promotes personal and professional development. The major responsibilities of the educator include clinical, simulation / laboratory supervision and may include classroom education experiences.
Qualifications/Requirements:
• Master’s degree in Nursing is required.
• Medical/Surgical experience preferred.
• Three years of progressive, professional, nursing clinical experience.
• At least one year of teaching experience in a nursing program preferred.
• MS Office, email, internet research, web-based learning systems, and clinical computer applications.
• Maintains a valid unencumbered New Jersey RN license and CPR Certification.
• Background check, drug screen, and health requirements
• Strong interpersonal skills, showing an ability to work effectively as a team member.
• Demonstrates excellent communication skills.
Responsibility/Functions:
• Maintains expertise in education strategies and clinical proficiency.
• Implements a variety of strategies appropriate to learner needs, desired learner outcomes, content and context. Bases strategies on educational theory and evidence-based practices.
• Uses information technologies to support the teaching-learning process.
• Develops collegial working relationships with colleagues and communities of interest to promote positive learning environments.
• Exercises discretion and judgment to identify individual learning styles and unique learning needs of students from diverse backgrounds. Assists learners to develop the ability to engage in thoughtful and constructive self-assessment.
• Engages in effective advisement and counseling strategies that assist learners to meet their professional goals.
• Creates learning environments that are focused on patient safety and socialization to the role of the nurse.
• Provides constructive feedback to learners.
• Uses assessment and evaluation data to enhance the teaching and learning process.
• Participates in the systematic program evaluation process.
• Maintains community and clinical partnerships that support educational goals of the University.
• Serves as a role model and resource for students and nursing personnel on an ongoing basis.
• Functions as an active team member to achieve identified program goals.
• Participates in professional development opportunities that increase one's effectiveness in clinical practice, area of expertise, and clinical teaching and evaluation.
