Job Description
Gilead's mission is to discover, develop, and deliver therapies that will improve the lives of patients with life-threatening illnesses worldwide. Join Gilead’s mission as the Executive Director, HIV Franchise Marketing will be a key contributor responsible for strategy and execution in support of Gilead’s $13B+ HIV franchise, including Biktarvy and Descovy for PrEP. The successful candidate will be a dynamic, experienced professional with a strong track record of commercial success in the pharmaceutical industry. They must demonstrate proven expertise in strategic brand/portfolio management, team leadership, and the ability to provide vision and direction within a fast-moving, challenging, and dynamic commercial environment.
This position is based in Foster City, CA, and does not have the option of being remote.
Responsibilities:
Lead, develop, and manage a diverse team of marketing professionals.
Guide the strategic and tactical planning for HIV Franchise Marketing, supporting inclusive, end-to-end HIV leadership through community and opinion leader engagement
Direct the marketing strategy and plan of action (POA) for the HIV Community Liaison (CL) program team and allied healthcare provider (AHCP) marketing in close coordination with HIV Treatment and Prevention brand teams.
Deliver resources and initiatives to AHCPs through CL resources, operations, events, and digital engagement.
Build and sustain relationships with HIV treatment and prevention advocates, community thought leaders, key stakeholders, and AIDS Service Organizations (ASOs).
Collaborate closely with teams across HIV Treatment, HIV Prevention, and Public Affairs on external leadership initiatives.
Lead cross-functional efforts with teams in Treatment, Prevention, Business Conduct, Medical Affairs, Clinical, Regulatory, Managed Markets, and Public Affairs to support key initiatives (e.g., congress presence, key events)
Plan and lead advisory boards across the HIV business unit to foster diverse input and insights.
Oversee the Promotional Speakers Bureau and peer-to-peer education initiatives for HIV Treatment and Prevention.
Lead the strategic engagements with opinion leaders at and surrounding critical scientific engagements.
Manage the Franchise Marketing budget with transparency and accountability.
Supervise agency relationships, ensuring alignment with goals and performance expectations.
Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and Fourteen Years’ Experience
OR
Masters' Degree and Twelve Years’ Experience
OR
PhD and Twelve Years’ Experience
Preferred Qualifications:
14 years with a bachelor’s degree or 12 years with MA/MS/PhD pharmaceutical industry experience, including expertise in marketing
Minimum BA/BS degree required with an MBA or advanced scientific degree desired.
Knowledge and experience in HIV preferred.
Experience managing cross-functional teams or work groups as well as direct reports.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to lead, interact with, focus, resolve conflict, and drive consensus among individuals from various cultures and disciplines.
Strategic capabilities with the ability to conceive, develop, and implement multidimensional marketing and business plans.
Demonstrated excellence in project management and effectively managing multiple projects/priorities.
Strong communication skills with experience presenting before executive staff.
Track record of successful budget management with an understanding of revenue forecasting and expense budget planning and tracking
Sales/market research experience is preferable.

The salary range for this position is: $295,290.00 - $382,140.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
