To provide excellent custodial and grounds-keeping services sothat facilities are clean, comfortable, and efficient educational and work environments
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:• Ability to work in locations involving heights and confined spaces; to work indoors and outdoors year-round in noisy, crowded environments, and inclement weather• Demonstrated knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in cleaning furniture, floors, walls, windows, light fixtures, and plumbing fixtures and in making routine repairs• Ability to climb and work from scaffolding, ladders, and heights, and to engage in prolonged standing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, turning and reaching• Ability to read and follow directions, to work independently, and to plan and prioritize tasks• Ability to lift and carry fifty (50) pounds• High level of personal initiative and ability to work without close supervision• Ability and willingness to work after hours, weekends, shift work, or holidays if necessary• Ability to be punctual and regular in attendance• Ability to work well with people as part of a team• Ability to meet suitability criteria under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as state, federal, and local law and the Board may require
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, goals, and priorities2. Performs assigned custodial work that ensures an efficient and effective balance between operation and preventive custodial services3. Performs duties in a timely, courteous, and professional manner4. Maintains confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters5. Performs emergency custodial services (clean-up of bodily fluids, chemical spills, glass breakage, etc.) in accordance with established procedures6. Maintains and reports inventory of materials and supplies as needed, and makes recommendations of supplies and equipment for purchase, including bathroom tissue, hand towels, cleaners, deodorizers, and other necessary materials and supplies7. Stores, uses, and disposes of chemicals, cleaners, and products in accordance with established procedures and instructions8. Moves, sets up, rearranges, and removes furniture as directed9. Monitors and maintains assigned facilities so that debris is picked up, restrooms are cleaned, floors are swept and mopped, glass is cleaned, garbage receptacles are emptied, fixtures and furnishings are dusted, and facilities are cleaned inaccordance with established procedures and instructions10. Assists in regular, routine inspections of buildings and grounds for safety hazards, repairs, or services, and reports needs or solves issues according to established District procedures11. Reports illegal acts such as damaged property, littering, theft, and vandalism12. Adheres to local Board policies, administrative procedures, and other like directives, as well as state, federal, and local laws13. Performs other job-related duties as assigned by Supervisor(s)
