Job Summary:
Operations Accountant has full responsibility for costing spreadsheets, reports, and closing procedures for the Smoothie Division of Johanna Foods, Inc. Responsibilities include Smoothie costing and inventory worksheets, new product costing, loss reconciliation and productivity reporting. Must have a high level of understanding of the manufacturing process and costing components of finished products. The role partners with Supply Chain and Smoothie Manufacturing to report KPIs on yield, inventory and costs in weekly and monthly closing schedules.
Responsibilities
Maintain, analyze and reconcile inventory records including purchases, usage, and variances for finished goods and raw materials for Smoothie Division.
Preparation of weekly and monthly operations reports for management - gain/loss schedule, weeks of inventory, manufacturing costs, productivity (co-manufacturing), and analysis of major COGS components.
Analysis of production overhead expense identifying risks and opportunities.
Analysis of monthly divisional contribution margin variance drivers.
Monthly reconciliation of various G/L balance sheet accounts. Prepare monthly closing journals.
Maintain product costing for all finished products.
Finished goods inventory reporting, as Smoothie is part of the Juice Division and separated at month-end.
Calculate Smoothie sales cases & overhead cost and post in Smoothie cost book.
Record payroll hours and post weekly operations report.
Responsible for all co-manufacturing activities, i.e., receipts, ending inventories from supply chain yard trailer report, and ingredient inventory reports.
Import receiving logs into cost schedule for sugar and juices. Confirm ending inventories.
Maintain master tanker freight tracking and load billing.
Maintain some Aseptic division related activities, i.e., finished goods production, case distribution and ending inventories. Issue month-end pallet report.
Maintain a rapport with various levels of management in manufacturing and supply chain. Stay current with changes in plant facilities and operations. Attend manufacturing meetings.
Provide timely and accurate product costing options for new and reformulated products.
Transform and manage joint supply chain and finance receiving logs for Smoothie and Juice.
Qualifications
BS in Accounting or Finance required, four year college degree or equivalent experience.
Minimum seven years of experience in accounting, manufacturing or audit preferred.
Strong analytical, interpersonal and computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Excel.
Commitment to continuous process improvement.
Willingness and desire to deep dive into the detail.
