Position Summary
The LGBT Network is seeking a Development Coordinator to support and grow the development and fundraising for the organization. The successful candidate will have a focus on individual giving, recurring membership, and support special event fundraising, with an annual individual fundraising goal of $300,000. The successful candidate will grow the base of donors, increase individual giving programs, expand membership, and strengthen a roster of events. The Development Coordinator is based out of the LGBT Network's Hauppauge Center and reports to the Chief Development Officer.
Principal Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssist in the growth of giving programs, including monthly giving, annual giving, sponsorships, annual campaigns, and chamber membership.Maintain a detail-oriented donor database in Salesforce of over 15,000 donors and prospects, and proactively creates and implements strategies for cultivation, including tracking donor status and demographic changes on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.Ensure timely acknowledgment of gifts to the organization, including generating formal tax-exempt thank you letters and coordinating with Director of Development for proofing and signatures when applicable.Generate monthly donor reports to identify prospective donors for re-solicitation as well as lapsed donors for re-engagement.Contact donors and prospects via phone and e-mail to extend invitations for special events and to solicit donations.Invite donors into our centers and conduct tours to highlight the impact of their giving.Implements and executes a plan to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual donors in support of the organization's monthly, quarterly, and annual fundraising goals.Maintains calendar for donor communication and solicitations through direct mail, online, and E-Blast targeting individual donors.Support with set up of special events, Long Island LGBT Chamber of Commerce events, campaigns and fundraisers including on-site support.Assist the Chief Development Officer and CEO with administrative functions as needed.Requirements
Position Qualifications
Bachelor's degree preferredTwo-plus years of related experience, including customer service, account management, data analysis, spreadsheet management, hospitality, and similarExperience with development and fundraising in a non-profit organization or similar preferredCommitment to the knowledge of the LGBT communityAbility to articulate the LGBT Network's mission is essentialStrong proficiency with computer skills such as Microsoft Word and ExcelOther Requirements
Flexible work schedule a must, as this position requires evening hours and weekends.Reliable transportation and a valid driver license required; position will require frequent travel within Queens, Nassau and Suffolk CountiesExcellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors and build long-term relationships.Sensitivity, understanding and the ability to effectively interact with individuals, both internal and external, from diverse backgroundsExcellent interpersonal and phone skills and ability to work with a wide range of people.Strong public speaking and networking skillsAbility to work both independently and as a part of a team in a fast-paced environmentStrong organizational skills for handling multiple tasks at onceExcellent time management skills with exceptional attention to detail
