FULL-TIME POSITION AVAILABLEAssistant to the Food Bank ManagersThe Assistant to the Food Bank Managers is responsible for the support in leadership and administration of all Diocesan Food Banks. The Assistant is also responsible for co-leading with managers the outreach programs in communities impacted by food insecurities, especially in partnership with Second Harvest and other non-profits. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with community and civic organizations, churches, volunteer groups, schools, and community centers. This position also is responsible for organizing volunteer groups for all food banks, training volunteers along with food bank managers, and works with Parish Social Ministry/Volunteer management ministry to ensure Catholic Charities initiatives and special outreach initiatives are implemented. The actual workplace will be dictated by the ED and ED discretion in consultation with the food bank managers
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:•Assist the Food Bank Managers in the implementation of the mission and goals of Catholic Charities through strategic and program planning at all Diocesan Food Banks.•Co-Lead with food bank managers all volunteer and outreach initiatives as well as organizing volunteer groups for Diocesan Food Banks and Second Harvest initiatives and the Bayou Region Distribution Center.•Lead Thibodaux school backpack program and any other program initiatives which require organization, volunteer recruitment, implementation, communication via social media, and any required reporting for such initiatives.•Ensure that the people who come to the Food Banks for help are treated with dignity and respect.•Determine if clients are eligible for assistance with food and maintaining the files of those receiving assistance, including paper files, Second Harvest files, and Charity Tracker data entry.•Serve as a liaison between the Food Bank, Church partners and community organizations and businesses, fostering good relations and communications.•Assist the Food Bank Managers in ensuring that the agency is responsive to community needs and that new programs are developed and executed in response to changing community needs and according to the Criteria for Evaluating Proposed Programs for Catholic Charities.•Assist food bank managers in the general fiscal management, including ordering food and other items; ensuring that the food bank is well stocked with food and household supplies at all times and timely acknowledging donations. The Manager maintains the relationship with Second Harvest and leverages the cost savings with donated & USDA products. The Manager prepares the monthly demographic reports.•Assist in building maintenance, repair and janitorial services and ensuring that the building is ready for inspections by the Department of Health.•Serve as a fill into Food Banks as needed.•Other duties as assigned by the Food Bank Managers and/or Associate Director or Executive Director.

QUALIFICATIONS TO PERFORM THE JOB SUCCESSFULLY:
Education and/or Experience:•High School Diploma or Equivalent
Other Skills and Requirements:•Must be able to successfully complete Safe Environment training.•Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive situations and documents/ records.•Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions.•Must be able to communicate clearly by phone, in written from including email, and verbally.•Ability to perform excellent computer skills. Microsoft Office experience preferred.•Must be able to work with autonomy and possess ability to multi-task and set priorities in a fast-paced environment.•Must have a valid Driver's License with a good driving record.•Ability to travel in one's own vehicle to pick up groceries and supplies.•Volunteer recruitment and supervisory experience preferred.•Ability to work with volunteers, Diocese churches and community organizations.•Ability to train volunteers, maintain statistical data, and fulfill monthly reporting requirement.•Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.•Must be able to regularly stand, walk, and bend for extended periods of time.
Work Schedule: 35 hours per week; Scheduled variable with Food Bank openings
