Overview
The Non-Certified Electrician will provide electrical expertise to lead the installation of residential solar systems and batteries to ensure conformance to existing national and local building codes. Depending on state requirements, the Non-Certified Electrician performs or assists in a variety of electrical work including main panel upgrades (MPUs), electrical troubleshooting and service work as well as commissioning. This position will also work with the PV installation crew, filling in and performing other duties when necessary, including leading the crew in the absence of the Foreman.
Responsibilities
Lead the installation of electrical systems that interconnect our solar array to the grid power of our customer's residential propertyEnsure work performed is of good workmanship and compliant with current NEC and local codesSafely plan and complete solar battery installations and MPUs as assigned and depending on state electrical certification requirementsTroubleshoot system problems and resolve electrical issuesWork with branch team and home owners to fulfill or assist in any necessary system upgrades/repairs to support our solar equipmentWork with local inspectors to satisfy local requirements and expectations as assignedDemonstrate knowledge of OSHA standards related to photovoltaic installations and enforce safety practices and standardsAdditional duties assigned as needed5% travel requiredQualifications
High school diploma or equivalentMust possess 75% of the hours required to sit for state specific electrical certification examsElectrical installation and repair experience required. Experience with electrical work involving wiring up to 600 VDC and 480 VACWorking knowledge and experience replacing residential electrical services and distribution panels preferredLICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS (include where appropriate)Must maintain a clean driving record with the ability to pass a driving background check. Must be 21 years of age and possess a valid driver's license.Certified electrical trainee preferred or required depending on state requirementsElectrical/PV Installation Knowledge:Working knowledge of current NEC codes. Ability to interpret single line drawings and PV systems from roof to meter. Demonstrates knowledge of electrical principles as it pertains to solar interconnection/tie-in and code and how PV systems operate. Understands interconnection activities. Understands basic construction principles.Safety: Adheres to company safety policies and procedures including ability to identify and report safety hazards, and the ability to encourage others to work safelyCustomer Service: Ability to establish rapport, build relationships and loyalty with external and internal customers and coworkers, and remains tactful when communicatingResults Driven: Proven ability to meet deadlines and key metrics. Works independently, as a team player, and drives results in a fast paced, team based environment. Must be willing to assist teammates and build strong relationships to achieve company and department goalsProblem Solving: Solid logical decision making and troubleshooting skills with the ability to problem solve in a timely and effective manner. Exercises good judgment. Takes ownership of issues or questions and will escalate problems to the appropriate persons and follow up accordingly with the customer. Starting salary/wage for this opportunity:$23.42 to $31.23
