Rate: $60 - $65 / hr. w2 About the Role: We are seeking a highly skilled Mainframe Operating Systems Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of mainframe system internals and hardware configurations. This role involves supporting the mainframe system environment, configuring mainframes, and maintaining third-party vendor software. The Mainframe Operating Systems Engineer will also need to have strong debugging skills and the ability to assist developers in resolving issues. Responsibilities: Mainframe System Support: Provide comprehensive support for the mainframe system environment, including z/OS, JES, TSO/ISPF, USS, etc. Hardware Configuration: Utilize knowledge of mainframe hardware configurations to configure mainframes through the HMA and use HCD to create new IO gens. Software Support: Install and maintain various third-party vendor software packages used in the mainframe environment. Product Installation and Configuration: Use SMP/E and zOSMF to install and configure various mainframe products and components. Programming Assistance: Utilize programming knowledge, especially in assembler and REXX, to support mainframe operations. Debugging and Issue Resolution: Employ strong debugging skills to interface with vendors and provide necessary information to resolve incident cases. Assist developers in resolving their issues with z/OS or program products. Qualifications: Extensive knowledge of mainframe system internals, including z/OS, JES, TSO/ISPF, USS, etc. Strong understanding of mainframe hardware configurations and experience configuring mainframes through the HMA and using HCD to create new IO gens. Experience in supporting third-party vendor software used in the mainframe environment. Proficiency in using SMP/E and zOSMF to install and configure mainframe products and components. Programming knowledge, especially in assembler and REXX, is a plus. Excellent debugging skills and the ability to interface with vendors to resolve incident cases. Ability to assist developers in resolving issues with z/OS or program products. Skills, experience, and other compensable factors will be considered when determining pay rate. The pay range provided in this posting reflects a W2 hourly rate; other employment options may be available that may result in pay outside of the provided range.
