My client is seeking an Electrical Engineer with 10 years or more of relevant experience in the Industrial/Chemical Industry.

Experience should include design engineering, regulatory compliance, electrical power control, troubleshooting, construction inspection, commissioning support, and proposal or business development support. Experience should also include drives, MV motors, utility requirements for industrial users, transformer & switchgear design, soft starters, US and International codes and standards (ATEX, NEC, UL, etc.), programming, low voltage MCC, industrial heaters, plant design.

Responsibilities include:

Development of single line diagrams and schematic drawings; developing purchase specifications; obtaining vendor quotes; preparing electrical construction specifications; performing bid evaluations; approving vendor drawings; supervising, start-up testing, and commissioning of electrical equipment installations in new process plants including hydrogen plants, ASUs, and other gas plants; contributing to plant proposals for business development; co-ordination with all other disciplines and construction management during plant design and construction. Supervision of designers tasked with producing drawings and documentation for a project as well as active participation in the design activities.

Projects may include:

Co-ordination with utility for installation of new plants including new substations; power system studies for voltage drop, load flow, short circuit and relay co-ordination; developing substation packages; installation, testing and commissioning of high voltage substations; new installation or replacement of large synchronous motors up to 30,000 HP; review design calculations for load flow, short circuit, Arc Flash, and relay co-ordination including voltage drop calculations during starting of large motors; installation of switchgear, transformers, VFD's, UPS, diesel generators, and batteries and battery chargers.

Trouble shooting may include:

Evaluation of equipment breakdowns; analysis of plant trips; root cause analysis; creating reports for Lessons Learned for continuous improvement; providing emergency support during plant trips to re-start a plant and bring it to operating conditions.

Other activities may include:

Performing plant reliability audits, evaluations of existing electrical equipment; preparing cost estimations for upgrades; and evaluation of hazardous area classifications especially for Hydrogen plants including liquid H2 dispensing units. Must have the ability to read standard Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams and have familiarity with viewing 3D models. Excellent communication and language skills are required.
