The Host/Hostess at Rusty Pelican Miami is the initial point of contact for each guest and is an essential part of creating a positive and memorable experience that makes restaurant guests feel welcome. The Host/Hostess is responsible for providing exceptional guest relations by greeting guests, escorting them to their table, provide menus, ensuring their dining experience has been excellent, and bidding guests farewell as they leave. Host/Hostess are highlyskilled at using OpenTable, Point of Sale information (POS), and other restaurant systems, and flexible in responding to operational needs with a "can-do" approach.

Key Responsibilities:

Greeting Guests:

Welcome guests with a friendly and professional demeanor upon arrival.Reservations and waitlist:

Manage reservations and waitlist, ensuring that tables are allocated efficiently and in accordance with any prior bookings.Seating Arrangements:

Ensure that guests are seated in a way that optimizes table turnover and accommodates guest preferences.Assisting with Special Requests:

Handle special seating requests, such as accommodating large groups, anniversaries, or birthdays.Communication:

Communicate with the waitstaff and management to ensure a smooth and efficient seating process.Maintaining Waiting Area:

Keep the waiting area clean and organized, and provide waiting guests with an estimated wait time.Menu Knowledge:

Have a good understanding of the menu, daily specials, and any promotions, so you can provide basic information to guests.Customer Service:

Address any guest concerns or questions and assist in resolving issues as needed.Assist with To-Go Orders:

Handle takeout orders and ensure they are prepared for pick-up efficiently.Maintaining Reservation Records:

Keep records of reservations and guest preferences for future visits.Assist with Clearing Tables:

In some cases, host/hostesses may also assist with clearing and resetting tables during peak dining hours.Answering Telephones:

Provide accurate up-to-date information about the restaurant and handle guest inquiries and concerns professionally and promptly.Work Behaviors and Required Skills:

Demonstrate a responsive, caring and respectful approach in all personal interactions.Wears approved manufacturer certified slip resistant or non-slip shoes at all times while working.Complies with all hygiene and personal grooming requirements.Participates in all required training's and completes all required examinations.Collaborate with the kitchen and bar staff to ensure a seamless flow of service.Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines.Outstanding customer service skills, communication skills, and interpersonal skills in order to effectively engage others verballyAbility to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude.Knowledge of food and beverage menus, including wine and cocktail offerings.Punctuality and a professional appearance.Ability to listen and speak in basic English in order to maintain effective communications in the performance of essential job functionsAbility to read and comprehend data sources, written work instructions, policies, procedures and other work materials in English in order to perform essential duties in accordance with safety, sanitation and operational standards and training'sExperience:

1 year minimum experience as a Host/Hostess in a full-service restaurant.1 year minimum OpenTable experienceEducation and Certification:

High School Diploma/GED requiredCurrent food safety certification, such as ServSafe and SafeStaffPhysical Requirements:

Regular lifting, moving and carrying of menus, furniture, etc. weighing up to 30 pounds across the restaurant.Regular and prolonged standing that required you to be on your feet for up to 12 hour in a dayRegular walking inside and outside of the restaurant to greet and escort guests, hand-off take-out food orders, etc.Regular ascending/descending stairs across the restaurant to escort guests, etc.Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.Frequent use of hand to finger motions, handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms.
