Our Industrial and Water market is growing across North America, and we are adding Lead Electrical Engineers to our team in Lenexa Kansas, as our business continues to grow and expand to different industrial markets. We are looking for individuals with a strong background in Electrical Engineering design with a strong background in ETAP and Industrial plan designs, with experience and interest in leading projects and teams. Our rapidly growing Industrial Design Group, which includes process, electrical, controls, structural, architectural, geotechnical, and civil disciplines, is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on EPC and design-build delivery of industrial projects in markets such as Food & Beverage, Consumer Products, Heavy Manufacturing, Industrial Buildings Industrial Water and Utilities. We have specialized expertise in plant floor process design, packaging, refrigerated/frozen facility design, and ammonia refrigeration systems.
Location
This position can be located out of Lenexa Kansas. We offer relocation assistance to the area.
Responsibilities
Prepare electrical engineering deliverables that could include: one-lines, layout, design schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment data sheets, hazardous area classification drawings, electrical power studies, etc...Perform complex calculations and applies standards correctly, without supervisionTakes a leadership role when working with peers; able and willing to run projects and lead othersFormulate technical specifications and prepare interface points with construction partners. Schedule, review, and coordinate design efforts with other project personnel, performing bid evaluations of equipment and construction proposals and developing recommendations for contract award.Review electrical requirements for new facilities and project plans. Review application of standards for correct interpretations (including NEC).Lead quality checks of the design and engineering of a mid to major sized project to ensure accuracy.Perform ETP analysis and simulation, system modeling, protection coordination, reliability studies, load flow studies and grounding integrityUtilize SmartPlant for balance of plant electrical systems design.Mentor, train and guide junior engineers, maintaining a comprehensive understanding of departmental design standards, applicable engineering codes, and Kiewit guidelines, providing suggestions and recommendations as needed. Serve as a resource and subject matter expert for the discipline.Lead projects, and other Engineers, including both in-house inter-discipline engineers and construction partners to provide our Clients the industrys best of both engineering and physical design.Support RFP, Pre-Feed, FEED, D/B and EPC projects for electrical designs across multiple markets
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited four-year college or university and EIT license is requiredMinimum of 12+ years experience performing Electrical engineering design for Industrial facilities (which could include Chemical plants, Mining/Mineral Processing, Power, Water/Wastewater, Processing plants, Advanced manufacturing plants, data centers, EV Battery, power, petrochemical)Experience with ETAP Electrical Power System Analysis Software (or similar tool) for simulation/analysis is requiredAble to serve as technical resource, lead a project and be a point of contact for external or internal customersAble to lead team to complete task/design on a project, providing mentoring, design guidance to less experience engineersExperience working with a project team as the Engineering Discipline lead and coordinate with other stakeholders in engineering, procurement and construction on the projectsExperience with SmartPlant, or similar electrical/plant software for designing electrical systems or I&C systems in a industrial facilityDevelop and presents work in a well constructed manner, excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to convey ideas and messages succinctly, with a collaborative approach to design and solve problemsPE preferred, or willingness to obtain within one yearExperience with FEED, D/B, EPC designs, familiar with 30/60/90% completion design progressionExperience in field construction or startup and previous experience directing junior engineers is desirableExperience with power system studies, relay coordination, short circuit load flow, protection, relay coordination, arc flash, low to medium power preferredExperience with industry codes, guidelines and standards to include NEC, NFPA, and APISelf-directed, able to work with limited to no supervision
