Position SummaryThe Nurse Manager will be responsible for oversite of the Interventional and Diagnostic Radiology Nursing staff at ColumbiaDoctors 51st Outpatient Radiology. The Nurse Manager will ensure patient care needs are met and remain compliant with local, state and federal regulations and accreditation standards.ResponsibilitiesWorks with the Practice Manager and Clinical Operations Manager to provide adequate staffing coverageWorking with the IR clinical operations manager and practice manager, develops electronic staff calendar to track staffing, vacation and sick; Approves Nursing Time OffCompletes Annual Nurse Evaluations, Discipline StaffCoordinate daily work assignments to enhance patient workflow and comply with QA equipment requirementsEmergency Equipment QAPoint of Care daily QAControlled Substance Maintenance and QA logs
Precept new staffAssessment and Care of the VIR patient throughout care delivery: Pre-procedure assessment and preparation; Intra-procedural IR set up and Post procedural careProvide for safe and accurate administration of medication, intravenous fluids, contrast andEstablish intravenous access for contrast administration ,medication administration, and intravenous fluids.Provide Safe and Appropriate Administration of Conscious Sedation following ColumbiaDoctors Policy & Procedure as per ASA guidelinesPerform physical, psychological and cognitive status assessments of patients.Monitor patient throughout care delivery for change in status and make appropriate intervention /contact primary care givers for instruction.Initiate care and discharge plan for patients after invasive procedures, educate patient and provide written instructionsProvide phone instructions pre-procedure when applicableAssign Telephone follow-up call 24hr post procedureEnsure proper documentation is completed for all patient care eMRIdentifies and corrects problems as appropriate with all critical occurrences reported to the next level of authority.Responsible for maintenance and storage of medication, syringe, catheter inventory.Oversees all functions of the CAPSA Nexsys Medication Dispensing CabinetFollow all Radiation Safety Guidelines per Columbia University Radiation Safety ProgramPerforms other duties as assigned
Minimum QualificationsRequires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience.New York State RN license and a minimum of 4 years of Interventional Radiology experience or 4 years of ER, ICU, OR, Cath Lab, Telemetry or Recovery Room experience. ACLS/BCLS required
Preferred QualificationsNurse Manager experience preferred; Familiarity with EPIC;
