*This position is eligible for telework which is currently one day per week. New hires are eligible to apply for telework 30 days after their effective date of hire.

SUMMARY

The Deputy Director, OHS Operational Support will be responsible for leading the up-front planning and execution of OHS strategic and technology initiatives that will support MTA overall agenda. This position interacts with New York City Transit, MTA Bus, MTA HQ, MNR and LIRR on application enhancement and support. This includes management of all aspects of the medical application strategic programs across scope, schedule, budget components and oversight responsibilities. All new technology initiatives will be managed by this position which will improve the overall goals of MTA. The Deputy Director will interact with a wide range of stakeholders both within MTA IT and other agency stake holders to meet all necessary requirements and improve the efficiencies of OHS medical programs.

RESPONSIBILITIESProvide program management, technical integration, and cross-functional execution of the medical application and new strategic technology initiatives. Partner with key Technology and cross-functional stakeholders to drive key program activities by:

Developing integration plans across Technology functional areas :Tracking program budgets and resourcing levels;Conducting program reviews across agencies;Providing input into system upgrades and/or new applications including RFP panels and panel meetings with the Procurement liaison; andProviding executive management with project updates.

Manage medical applications requests & issues by:

Overseeing the day-to-day aspects of the medical application issues and requests. Will receive requests on system changes, updates, new implementation, and defects. Serves as first point of escalation;Ensuring all interfaces are functioning correctly; andLeading the OHS workforce by planning, analyzing & developing plans to improve and provide efficiencies throughout the different OHS medical facilities.

Select, develop, and motivate personnel within the department.Provide career development for subordinates.Provide prompt and effective coaching and counseling.Responsible for discipline/termination of employees when necessary. Review performance of staff.Create a professional environment that respects individual differences and enables all employees to develop and contribute to their full potential.Other duties as assigned.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

Demonstrated ability to work with all internal levels within a given organization.Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact well with external agencies. In particular, a demonstrated ability to effectively communicate technical and business issues and/or solutions to multiple organizational levels internally and externally as needed.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE :

Bachelor's degree with Computer Information Systems major or related area or an equivalent combination of education from an accredited college and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree; master's degree preferred.Eight (8) years' experience including at least four ( 4 ) years in a managerial and/or leadership role in a large, multi-faceted, fast-paced organization or governmental body preferred.Must have experience with managing and implementing mid- to large scale applications; preferred - have experience with medical applications or similar system.Experience in workforce planning and/or strategic location analysis.PREFERRED:

Familiarity with the MTA's policies and procedures.Familiarity with the MTA's collective bargaining procedures.GENERAL:

May need to work outside of normal work hours (i.e., evenings and weekends) .Travel may be required to other MTA locations or other external sites .
