ResponsibilitiesJob Summary This position is responsible for the monthly, quarterly and annual audit consolidated financial statement analysis and preparation for Dignity Health. This position reports to the Director, Internal and External Reporting. This position has regular contact with the System Office staff, accounting service center staff, financial reporting staff at each Hospital/Service Area and external auditors.

Responsibilities 1 Monthly Consolidation.1.1 Assist in the compilation and analysis of the System and Obligated Group consolidated financial statements, system memorandum and statistical data including the Flash, Highlights, MOR, statistical data reports and various ad-hoc reports, on a monthly basis. Work closely with all levels of the accounting departments to ensure an understanding of periodic consolidated financial reporting and accounting requirements and to ensure accounting and reporting is consistent and accurate. Assist in the financial analysis on various projects and programs on an as needed basis, including, for example, comparative analysis for the budget team, reimbursement team, senior management, investor relations analysis, rating agency reports, etc. Identify opportunities for improving accuracy, timeliness and effectiveness of consolidated reporting and analysis. Assist in any additional monthly reporting requests.2 Enhance/Development of Financial Reporting Requirements.2.1 Enhance and develop current system reporting tools, data extraction and presentation. Assist in the general ledger audit processes and review to ensure quality reporting. Review the Microsoft Cube database to ensure accuracy in hierarchy and G/L reporting. Assist with the development of templates used for reporting and tax return consolidation.3 Audit Process/Reporting3.1 Assist the coordination and preparation of quarterly system-wide and obligated group financial statements and quarterly review reports. Assist in the development, review and analysis of facility standard reporting packages. Preparation of various audit schedules, FAS 144 analysis, and questionnaires, etc., related to the year-end audit. Assist in the review of the consolidation of financial statements and footnotes for Dignity Health System and Obligated Group.4 Budget Reporting and Analysis.4.1 Assist in the consolidation and preparation of the annual consolidated operating budget for the System, including both financial and statistical information. Learn various planning systems, become super user of the systems.

QualificationsExperience

Four to seven years combined experience in financial reporting, budgeting, management and hospital financial reporting operations.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or relevant field.

Special Skills Good understanding of financial reporting conventions and best practices, accounting processes, procedures and internal controls.Strong research, analytical, quantitative and problem solving skills. Excellent organizational skills. Effective communication skills (verbal and written). Strong Microsoft Excel skills including advanced Excel functions and spreadsheet modeling. Knowledge of Access or other querying tool. Knowledge of Lawson software or other general ledger systems and Microsoft XL Cube reporting. Ability to work within and adhere to strict deadlines Highly self-motivated; someone who takes the initiative to identify areas of opportunity; acts in a methodical way to bring about improvements to current practices and processes. Ability to work independently.
