Responsibilities
In this role you will be responsible for developing skills in all three of the Company's key competencies while supporting the account managers, primarily on underwriting issues.
Key responsibilities will include:Providing technical assistance to account managers in handling underwriting details such as values analysis, linesetting, reinsurance needs and placement. As well as, rating and pricing, analysis of coverage, terms and conditions, and cross liability analysis.Being a resource to the Client Service department by gaining and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of underwriting standards, policy forms and loss prevention practices.Aiding the Client Service team in the development and implementation of the global insurance programs that satisfy customer needs. This is while adhering to company policies, procedures and guidelines.Assisting account managers in the preparation and delivery of internal and external meetings, presentations, proposals and account servicing activities.Keeping up to date on market trends, coverage, programs, reinsurance, and the new developments in the insurance market.Managing smaller accounts when assigned and developing external client and broker negotiation and servicing skills.The expectation is that you will complete all necessary training in underwriting and other areas to attain underwriting binding authority and will develop the skills, experience, and knowledge required to ultimately advance to account manager.Qualifications
Based on experience you will be considered for an Underwriter I or II
Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification.Experience working in the insurance industry with at least 2 years loss prevention engineering experience preferred!Flexibility in prioritizing and handling diverse activities and workload.Excellent communication skills-written, presentational and verbal. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with considerable attention to detail.Excellent computer skills.
