Summary:
Physical Therapist Assistant provides physical therapy services to patients in the home, as prescribed by the attending physician and under the direct supervision of a Physical Therapist.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Creates positive experiences for internal and external customers that will meet their expectations. (External customers include our patients, families, referral sources, vendors, the community, etc. Internal customers are the people within the agency with whom you work.) Displays a high degree of courtesy, tact, and knowledge of services provided by the agency in all contact with staff, patients, and visitors.
2. Assists office with achieving positive patient outcomes: (a) assists the Licensed Physical Therapist in treating patients to relieve pain, and/or develop or restore function and independence to maintain maximum performance, (b) performs physical therapeutic treatments as prescribed by the physical therapist, (c) delivers quality treatment services to patients in accordance with the plan of care, (d) accurately documents and ensures each visit is a skilled visit and reports the patient's reaction to treatment and/or any changes in the patient's condition to the physical therapist, (e) instructs patients and their families in the use of prosthetic, orthotic, and assistive devices (canes, walkers, wheelchairs, etc.) and other treatment modalities; (f) assists with monitoring/counting visits to ensure reassessment documentation is compliant.
3. Prepares and maintains appropriate clinical and administrative records in a prompt and comprehensive manner: (a) documenting patient limitations/interventions and progress. (b) completes paperwork within 24 hours of visit and communicates daily, (c) responds to e-mail requests for documentation correction/completion within 48 hours.
4. Maintains regular communication with supervisor/staff. (a) Communicates problems of the patient(s) on a timely basis following chain of command. (b) Communicates information using current process and technology available to 3HC. (c) Meets at least weekly, with the Licensed Physical Therapist and communicates with all staff at ITC (i.e. Director of Clinical Services, Assistant Director of Clinical Services, RN) as needed. (d) collaborates with supervisor to meet assigned productivity standard.
Requirements:
Graduate of an approved Physical Therapy Assistant curriculum.
One-year of clinical experience preferred.
Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant currently licensed to practice physical therapy in North Carolina.
Maintain current CPR certification (BCLS).
