The Opportunity with McKinstry

We are adding a Director of Operations, Energy to our growing Energy Utah division at McKinstry. You will direct energy operations from initial project concept through construction contract handoff to deliver customer work in a timely, effective and profitable manner. You will focus on our sales team and ensuring we are driving new business while delivering our existing work with excellence. You will closely collaborate with business development efforts to successfully obtain work that aligns with McKinstry capabilities. Additional responsibilities include:

Operations:

Working closely with Business Unit Manager, recommends and implements business plans, staffing and standard work processes and capacity to support the Utah team.

Collaborates with other corporate support units, teams, and McKinstry leaders to improve business results and customer satisfaction.

Collaborates with Business Development Director and team and influences business development efforts to ensure that potential project delivery and sales strategies align well with company capabilities and capacity.

Collaborates with Construction Director and team to influence seamless transition between development and construction.

Oversees the business operations and delivery of McKinstry offerings including solar PV, battery energy storage, microgrid/resiliency projects, and EV Infrastructure across the private and public sector nationwide.

Risk management responsibility for project development including pricing, general risk, and contractural risk.

Management:

Recruits, trains, mentors and manages leaders and teams and first level people supervisors in affective tactics to attain team goals.

Directs managers in assigned groups such as sales engineering, development engineering, pre-construction, and development project management to be efficient, effective and optimize efforts and financial returns.

Other duties as assigned.

What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry

Professional experience in renewable energy, solar, battery storage, construction preferred.

Substantive experience managing direct/indirect staff required.

Must have demonstrated proficiency for all the responsibilities of a Operations Director or Operations Manager.

Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Visio required; working knowledge of SharePoint preferred.

Working knowledge of scheduling software: Microsoft Project, Primavera and/or Suretrak required.

Skill in creating and interpreting pro-formas, budgets, revenue forecasting and manage to stated budgets required.

Experience with reading and negotiating contracts.

Four (4) year college level training in architecture, architectural engineering, engineering, mechanical/electrical engineering, business, or related field, or equivalent professional experience required.

Eight - twelve (8-12) years of management, engineering, construction, development project management experience or equivalent required.

T he pay range for this position is $157,900 - $240,100 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base pay information is based on market location. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
