Overview:
The Director of Internal Audit is responsible for the company's independent, objective assurance and advisory activity. A key component of this role will be implementing financial and information technology requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 (SOX) with the help of a co-sourced internal audit provider. This leader will provide the Audit Committee and management with independent and objective assurance as to the adequacy and effectiveness of the system of internal controls with respect to financial reporting, efficiency of operations and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.Responsibilities:Lead the execution and documentation of Sight Sciences SOX framework with the help of a co-sourced internal audit providerLead annual risk assessment process as part of the SOX planning process and a key contributor to the enterprise risk management process with the compliance departmentExecute SOX financial and information technology compliance activities including documentation and effectiveness testingCommunicate results of internal audit activities to business unit and corporate process owners and leadershipReport to the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors on the control environment of the company, including the Audit Plan, the results of internal audits, and the results of the SOX program testingCollaborate with cross-functional teams regarding business processes, risks, controls and systemsEvaluate deficiencies in internal controls and help create and monitor remediation plans for identified deficienciesComplete quarterly executive expense reviews for compliance with our policies and procedures and report these findings to the audit committeeEnsure corrective action plans are developed and implemented and provide progress reporting to management and the Audit CommitteePromote process and operating company ownership of internal controls and support objective business risk within the companyIn partnership with the business unit and headquarters process owners, address control deficiencies identified by the external auditorManage internal quarterly certification process with process owners and executive teamCoordinate with external auditors on their annual plan to optimize the reliance by the external auditors on the work performedCoordinate with Subject Matter Experts to execute internal audit project fieldwork and prepare reports for management and Audit CommitteeOrganize sufficient resources, both internal and external, to execute required compliance activities
Skils/Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in a business-related field, CPA or MBA preferred or equivalent work experienced required10+ years in audit and leading SOX and other compliance activitiesMix of public accounting and public company experienceExperience in leading SOX implementationsDeep understanding of SOX requirements and implementationSuperior communication skills, both written and verbal, enabling effective interaction with all levels of management and across all functional areasStrong knowledge of SOX requirements and ability to assist with documentation of ITGC and financial process controls to support operational as well as SOX compliance audits, including performing walkthroughs and developing process flow chartsDevelop relationships in a highly cross functional environment and drive alignment across departmentsHighly responsive and have a customer-first mindsetComfortable working with both deeply technical and non-technical audiencesDemonstrated project management skills
