Idaho Falls Community Hospital is looking for a Respiratory Therapist to join our team!JOB SUMMARY:
Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRT) are responsible for providing basic and advanced respiratory services for patients in all stages of life. The RRT can perform routine respiratory care in the clinical area including and not limited to initiating and monitoring oxygen therapy, medication administration, arterial puncture and breathing exercises and retraining. RRT is also able to perform critical care duties which include endotracheal intubation, initiation, management and discontinuation of mechanical ventilation. RRT may perform routine emergency care for patients ranging from infant, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric populations. Remains alert, assesses possible side effects to oxygen delivery.Administers respiratory therapy treatments, understands the purpose of each and the possible side effects associated with each.Communicates appropriately and clearly with Respiratory Manager, nurse of record of the patients, co-workers and providers.Sets up and monitors mechanical ventilators and the associated critical care duties required for such treatment, such as airway management and tracheal suctioning.Performs arterial punctures to obtain arterial blood samples for blood gas analysis, and understands the possible complications and contraindications associated with the procedure.Follows departmental equipment sterilization procedures.Documents all pertinent data on the patients medical record following completion of any service.Maintains a thorough knowledge of all departmental forms, flow charts, logbooks and their proper usage.Performs EKGs and EEGs if necessary, gives reports to interpreting and requesting physicians. Files reports in department, according to department procedures.Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the differences in techniques and treatment modalities as performed on patients of varying ages, including neonatal, pediatric, adolescent and geriatric patients.Demonstrations knowledge and understanding of oxygen concentrations and medication doses as they relate to patients of varying ages, including neonatal, pediatric, adolescent and geriatric patients.About Idaho Falls Community HospitalAt Idaho Falls Community Hospital, helping our community get better is our number one priority. Has current state Respiratory Therapy license. Graduate of an AMA approved School of Respiratory Therapy. Successful completion certifications of BLS, PALS ACLS and Neonatal Resuscitation.Experience:
Three or more years of previous experience in all aspects of cardiopulmonary services is preferred.Equipment/Technology:
Basic computer knowledge. Ability to use Standard Respiratory devices, such as but not limited to: ABG Machine, Ventilators, HFNC, EKG, IS (incentive spirometer) CPAP/BIPAP devices. Ability to perform chest PT.
