Job Overview:

This Material Handler is responsible for loading and unloading trucks and/or moving materials within or near the plant for the purpose of storing material, supplying production lines, or moving needed materials and supplies.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reads shipping/receiving paperwork or receives oral instructions to obtain materials or containers to be moved. Makes sure that job is run per documentation and asks questions if struction is not clear.

Secures lifting attachments to materials and conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated areas.

Stacks or assembles materials into bundles and bands bundles together.

Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks and shelves and attaches identifying tags or labels.

Unloads trucks, counts units unloaded and moves materials to storage area.

Loads trucks, counts units loaded, installs strapping, bracing or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit and seals load.

Fills out and signs shipping and receiving paperwork.

Counts, weighs and records number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet.

Lift objects by hand, with pallet jacks or forklift. Cleans forklift and sees that forklift is charged.

Keeps area clean and orderly and reports unsafe working conditions to supervisor.

Understands plant labeling requirements and sees that all chemicals are properly labeled and managed.

Recommends measures to improve material handling process and procedures.

Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalent

1-3 years prior experience in a manufacturing environment and material handler/forklift operator preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Ability to read, write, and speak English at a level, that allows the incumbent to read testing procedures, quality control specifications, and information in laboratory records

Must be able to report data orally and in writing

Must be able to lift or move up to 50 to 100 pounds

Pay Rate: $ 18.55 - 18.92/hr
