Calibration Specialist

We are seeking a technician to join our Fabrication and Calibration team in support of our Research Laboratory Support (RLS) contract with the U.S. EPA Center for Environmental Measurement & Modeling (CEMM) – Air Methods & Characterization Division (AMCD) located in Research Triangle Park, NC. The ideal candidate will have professional skills and specialized training in a technical field that will be used for and will lead to considerable amount of independent, self-managed work.
Responsibilities include:

Collect calibration data by prescribed EPA standard operating procedures.
·
Calibrate sensors that measure flow rate, pressure, temperature, relative humidity, and air velocity.
May also calibrate balances, weight sets, pipettes, and gas emission monitors.
·
Reduce, analyze, and interpret calibration data using statistical tools in MS Excel.
Report calibration results and generate calibration certificates in conformance with internal procedures and ISO-17025 standard guidelines.

Maintain laboratory standards, laboratory systems that support calibration, and reference materials.
·
Contribute to procedure, technique, and process improvement.
·
Maintain electronic records of measurement results and reports in accordance with CMS and EPA records management protocols.
·
Perform all laboratory work in accordance with established CMS and EPA safety and quality assurance protocols.

This person will be continually learning and developing new skill sets as the research objectives change.
·
This person will develop an understanding of measurement uncertainty based on the Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty in Measurement.
· May use R studio for data analysis and report generation.
