About CANO
Community Academies of New Orleans ("CANO") is a new charter school management organization created to bring together Esperanza Charter School, Foundation Prep Charter School, and Lafayette Academy Charter School with the ultimate goal of strengthening all three schools. The nonprofit boards that governed Foundation Prep and Choice Foundation voted to establish this partnership in 2019 to benefit from the organizations' shared values, similar programming, and strong leadership, and set operations of CANO to launch ahead of the 2020-2021 academic year.

The School-Based Nurse is a vital member of the CANO Health and Wellness team, their focus is to ensure the health and wellbeing of all CANO students and staff. S/he is required to provide administrative and medical responsibilities under the direction of a Registered School Nurse. School Nurse is responsible for administering first aid, contact tracing, calling parents or guardians of sick students, data reporting, and also assisting the school nurse with health assemblies for students and staff training on first aid and safety practices.
Essential Job Duties
First Aid for InjuriesRecording Symptoms of Sick StudentsAdministering doctor approved medication to studentsProviding emergency care when necessaryDocumentation and State reporting including keeping records of each student who visits the nurse's office, COVID testing, etcCovid testing and vaccine administration coordinationContact TracingMust be able to move frequently and freely, often on feet.Other duties as assigned to prioritize health and well-being of staff and studentsMust be able to lift 25lbsQualifications
Must be Fully VaccinatedRegistered Nurse (preferred)Two years of school nursing experienceTwo year of clinical training experienceCPR CertificationReliable Transportation for Schedule RotationProficient computer skillsExcellent Communication SkillsOrganization SkillsPhysical Demands
Must be able to remain in a stationary position for 75% of the workday.Able to occasionally move about inside the office and school building to meetings and other assigned dutiesOccasionally ascend stairs to migrate throughout the workspace
