General Description:
The Executive Director for Manufacturing Operations Business Development will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and developing new business opportunities to create valuable strategic collaborations and the optimization of manufacturing operations. The role involves collaborating with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders to uncover strategic partnerships, licensing, and acquisition opportunities that align with the company's global manufacturing goals.
Essential Functions of the job:
Opportunity Identification and Market Analysis:
Analyze market trends, competitive landscapes, and emerging technologies to identify potential business ventures that enhance operational efficiency and capacity
Lead the identification and evaluation of strategic business opportunities in manufacturing, including partnerships, collaborations, and acquisitions
Stay informed of industry developments, regulatory changes, and new technologies to drive innovation and growth within manufacturing
Strategic Partnership Development:
Develop and execute strategic business development plans to target specific market segments and partner types
Prepare proposals and presentations highlighting BeiGene's manufacturing capabilities and unique value proposition
Build relationships with key decision-makers at potential clients through networking and outreach
Work closely with cross-functional teams (R&D, Alliance Management, Business Development, Strategy, Supply Chain, Commercial and Finance) to ensure alignment between manufacturing strategies and business objectives
Build and maintain relationships with external partners, suppliers, and contract manufacturing organizations (CMOs) to drive business development efforts
Deal Evaluation and Execution:
Develop financial models and business cases to assess the viability and ROI of potential deals
Negotiate terms and contracts for strategic partnerships and collaborations
Lead negotiations with potential clients to secure partnership agreements, including pricing, timelines, and quality standards
Monitor ongoing partnerships to ensure execution and integration into manufacturing operations
Partner Management and Negotiation:
Manage existing relationships, in conjunction with Alliance Management and Business Development, to ensure satisfaction and identify opportunities for additional business
Assess partner needs and match them with the company's manufacturing and technical operations capabilities
Address partner concerns and resolve issues related to manufacturing processes and timelines
Internal Collaboration:
Work closely with internal teams including Manufacturing Operations, Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, Strategy and Corporate Development, and Project Management to ensure smooth project execution
Communicate partner needs and expectations to internal teams and coordinate project timelines and deliverables
Technical Expertise
:
Possess a strong understanding of biotech manufacturing processes, including biologics and small molecule production
Stay updated on regulatory requirements related to manufacturing and clinical trials
Be able to discuss technical aspects of manufacturing with potential partners and internal stakeholders
Desired Qualifications:
Strong understanding of global manufacturing processes, supply chain management, and regulatory requirements in the biotech sector
Proven track record of successfully negotiating and executing partnerships, licensing agreements, or acquisitions development within the biotech industry, with a strong focus on contract manufacturing
Extensive network within the biotech industry, including key decision-makers at potential partner organizations within Multi-National Companies (MNC), Early-Stage Biotech, Venture or Private Equity Firms
Exceptional analytical, financial modeling, and strategic thinking skills
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, global environment with multiple stakeholders
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively present technical information and negotiate contracts and term sheets
Willingness and ability to undertake international business travel to support business needs
Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, life sciences or a related field, 14+ years industry experience
Master’s degree in business, economics or a related field (preferred), 10+ years industry experience
