We’re seeking a future team member for the role of

Production Services - Infrastructure Support (Kafka Administrator)

to join our

Technology Services Group (TSG)

team. This role is located in Pittsburgh, PA and Lake Mary, FL – HYBRID (3 days in office per week).

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:

Through comprehensive training and hands-on experience, you will become highly skilled in confluent Kafka and its ecosystem, including tools such as Kafka Connect, Kafka Streams, and Schema Registry.

You will acquire a deep understanding of security protocols in Kafka, including SASL-SSL with Kerberos and TLS encryption, ensuring that data is transmitted securely and efficiently.

You will become well-versed in various tools to enhance Kafka monitoring, alerting, and deployment processes, such as TeamCity, Splunk logging, Prometheus, Grafana, and Ansible Tower.

You will have the opportunity to participate in knowledge-sharing sessions, training, and workshops to improve your proficiency in Kafka API and understand how Kafka messaging services are used in different microservices.

You will collaborate with other support teams to ensure that Kafka is seamlessly integrated with other technologies in the stack, such as databases, message queues, and data processing frameworks. This will enable you to deliver end-to-end solutions that are scalable, reliable, and secure.

You will gain expertise in utilizing ServiceNow to manage and track incidents, problems, changes, and releases in the production environment. This will enable you to maintain high levels of service quality and ensure that our clients' needs are met in a timely and efficient manner.

Following established change management processes to ensure all changes to production systems are properly tested, documented, and communicated.

Conduct thorough root cause analysis (RCA) for all high-priority (P1/P2) issues, documenting findings in comprehensive RCA documents.

As a member of the L1/L2 support team you will involve in the troubleshooting and resolving Kafka-related issues, such as message delivery failures, consumer lag, and producer/consumer errors.

Participate in on-call rotations to provide 24/7 support for Kafka clusters, and work with other support teams to ensure timely resolution of critical issues

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:

A combination of the following technologies preferred: Kafka API, Splunk, basic understanding Java applications (Kafka JMS), ServiceNow, Security Protocols SASL-SSL, Kerberos, TLS
