Sanitor
responsible for functioning as a team member of a progressive sanitation program to maintain high standards for a bakery food-producing plant; one essentially free of insects and rodent infestation and which produces wholesome products free of extraneous material and bacterial or other contamination and which complies with and/or exceeds all sanitation standards. Performs duties in the plant, flour room, warehouse, roofs and outside area and grounds.ESSENTIAL TASKS
Responsible for preventing injury due to improper or unsafe operation of equipment and following lockout/tag out procedures as well as all company safety programs and procedures.Keeps hands, body and clothing clear of moving machinery.Observes proper lifting technique.Pays special attention when walking or climbing stairways.Is alert to movement of materials, condition of walking surface and other people in order to prevent possible collision or accidents.Completes training on Hazardous Material and Right To Know information for all chemicals and supplies used in sanitation program.Completes training in Lock-Out, Tag-Out and Confined Spaces Policies and Procedures.Cleans bakery equipment, roof, fans, ceilings, walls and floors using specific procedures as directed.Performs duties as assigned by supervision.Keeps supervision informed of any unsanitary practices or conditions which may be occurring in the plant.Keeps cleaning equipment clean and returns to proper storage location when finished using.Fills in for other positions as assigned by supervision.Trains/retrains as required by company training guidelines (i.e. annual GMPT).Assists other employees when possible.Is at all times cognizant of personal and food safety. Follows all personal safety rules. If any food safety or quality problem (or potential problem) arises, elevates to Supervisor immediately or in a timely fashion, depending on severity of problem.Notifies supervision of any irregularities which occur and any equipment problems or safety hazards.Does not change job procedures without authorization from supervision.Performs all other related assignments and training of other employees as required by supervision.The above job description is not intended to be all inclusive but is to serve as a guideline for the job, and subject to change to meet the needs of Gold Medal Bakery or its customers.PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be capable of exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects, wipe, scrub, scrape and mop.Tasks require climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, bending, twisting, talking and hearing.Must be capable of working on ladders, and of working at heights up to 60 feet.Must be able to distinguish colors.Must be capable of understanding work instructions and reading notices and work schedules.Worker subjected to temperatures above 100° (degrees) for periods of more than one hour that is process related and more extreme in summer months.Hearing protection is required in designated areas.Worker subject to hazards such as proximity to moving parts, electrical current, and moving objects carrying considerable weight and force.Must be capable of working in environment of flour dust, cleaning agents and various chemicals.Must be capable of working in both wet and/or oily environments.May be required to work in outside environments in both good and inclement weather.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Preparation and Training: Work requires the ability to read and speak some English.Work Experience: Job is entry level. No experience necessary.Analytical Ability: Some analytical ability required. Analysis done involves simple comparisons between what a proper, clean area looks like and job to be done. Some mechanical ability is necessary to assemble and disassemble equipment.Independent Judgment and Consequence Of Errors: Routine work performed under supervision or in accordance with specific and detailed instructions. Errors relating to sanitation would cause inconvenience and confusion and considerable cost in time and money. Errors related to safety or contamination could cause serious injury to employees and/or consumers.Contact With Others: Little or no contact with people outside the company and ongoing contact with team members and/or production employees in the work area.
