Provide 1 and 2-tier Help Desk and educational support to eligible students and faculty for hardware troubleshooting and maintenance, software access and usage, wireless and remote networking, data backup, etc. As needed, provide Tier-1 hardware, software, networking and digital media support for SAIC Macintosh and Windows instructional desktop computers.Primary Duties and Responsibilities:Provide or facilitate 1 and 2 tier support for SAIC AIADO multi-platform system software, 3-party applications and networking.Assist eligible students and faculty who use 3 party design software on multi-platform operating systems with the software’s installation and maintenance in coordination with CRIT Help Desk Manager and CRIT Assistant Director of SAIC End User Services.Participate in start of semester software roll-outs of AIADO students and updates of computer software templates.Participate in outreach efforts to faculty and students, to promote awareness of AIADO software access, services and resources.Participate in faculty and student training sessions on topics such as computer maintenance and networking, data backup, SAIC Portal usage, etc.Maintain inventory database for AIADO-related hardware and software, such as student and faculty laptops and software templates, 3 tier repair requests, laptop loans, etc.Periodically create reports of support statistics such as amount and types of services provided, end-user demographics, etc.Assist with deployment of PC instructional software templates to academic departments such as Sculpture, AIADO, Writing Program, Career Development, etc.Assist Help Desk Manager with testing Active Directory policies on client machines.Meet regularly with other CRIT staff to discuss related projects, and to encourage effective communication and teamwork.Participate in ongoing planning of ways in which the Help Desk can meet hardware, software, and facility needs as technology evolves and the computing needs of the SAIC community develop.Keep abreast of developments in educational and service technologies.Perform other duties as required.Minimum Qualifications:Minimum 1 -2 years of experience in information technology preferred.Intimate knowledge of Macintosh Operating Systems, Windows Operating Systems, Apple hardware and peripherals, and Intel-based hardware.Familiarity with concepts and command line tools for OS X, Windows and UNIX.Knowledge of TCP/IP and general networking principles.Knowledge of Active Directory Domain structures and practices.Understanding of software distribution concepts and methodologies.Familiarity with maintenance programs such as Norton Utilities, Disk Warrior, Drive Image, etc.Understanding of function and system requirements for 2D and 3D design applications such as Adobe Creative Suite, Apple Pro Apps, Rhino, AutoDesk Suite etc.A+ and/or MCP certification.Strong communication, writing and organizational skills.CLOSING STATEMENTThe Art Institute of Chicago is an Equal Opportunity Employer that recruits, hires and promotes qualified individuals without regard to race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, national origin, ancestry, veteran status or citizenship.
