Principal Cyber System Engineer-Networks
based out of
Tampa, FL .As a Principal Cyber System Engineer-Networks at Northrop Grumman, you will maintain smooth operations of local area, worldwide, and virtual private networks (VPN). Responsibilities include:Plan, evaluate, and coordinate installation and/or reconfiguration of hardware and software elements of data and/or voice communication networks.Maintain technical expertise in all areas of networks and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing.Prepare or ensure that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions.Provide regular monitoring and network analysis regarding short- and long-range planning for in-house systems.Potential to be involved in the planning and design of a network or portion of a network.Job Responsibilities:We are seeking a hands-on Principal Network Engineer to perform the below tasks:Physical Networking:Command line experience configuring Cisco firewalls, routers, and switches.Ability to provide design documentation and engineering assistance on Cisco switches and routers prior to shipment and installation.Develop secure baseline configurations of Cisco switches and routers to a DISA STIG level requirement.Virtual Networking:Analyze VMware's network traffic management to identify and resolve misconfigurations.Troubleshoot overlay routing issues within VMware NSX.Configure vRealize Operations (vROPS) to monitor and optimize VMware NSX performance.Implement automation strategies to streamline network configuration processes.Basic Qualifications for Principal Network Engineer:Must be an expert in layer 2 and layer 3 networking.Must be knowledgeable in VMware NSX design, operation, and troubleshooting.Must possess US Citizenship and an active DoD Top Secret/SCI security clearance.Must hold DoD 8570 Certification for IAT Level II or higher prior to start date.5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 1 Year with PhD; NOTE: Four (4) years of additional experience can be substituted in lieu of degree.Preferred Qualifications:Core understanding of VMware vCenter and ESXi.Able to develop automation scripts to deploy, configure, and maintain network components.CCNA level or higher networking certification.What to expect:During the first 30 days:
onboarding activities to establish a solid foundation.Day 30 through 90:
further integration into daily activities with a team lead.Day 90 and onward:
