We are looking for a seasoned Data Architect to lead and establish a robust data architecture framework aligned with the enterprise architecture vision. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in defining, documenting, and governing data architecture principles, standards, and guidelines. The Data Architect will also work closely with business units to create conceptual and logical data models and implement data governance and management processes across the organization.
Responsibilities:
Data Architecture Principles & Standards: Develop and document data architecture principles that align with the overall enterprise architecture. Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture (EA) teams to ensure these principles are understood and agreed upon. Deliver these principles and standards in formal documents (Word format) for approval and dissemination.
Data Architecture Guidelines: Define and document data architecture guidelines and best practices, ensuring they are approved by EA teams and easily adoptable across projects and teams. Create reusable templates and checklists for project teams to follow during the solution design phase.
Operating Model & Governance: Establish the
Data Architecture Operating Model
including governance structures, roles, responsibilities, and accountability (RACI) matrices, ensuring formal approval (Word format). Ensure the integration of data architecture into solution delivery lifecycles and governance processes.
Hold Data Architecture forums and chair sessions to review architecture strategies and share best practices with key stakeholders.
Data Architecture Board & Controls: Establish and manage the Data Architecture Board with a formal charter, defining the frequency and agenda of board sessions. Implement data architecture controls to be embedded in the solution delivery lifecycle to enforce compliance with architecture principles and guidelines.
Business Data Modeling: Work with business stakeholders to develop
business conceptual and logical data models
for priority areas. Utilize modeling tools or Word documents to present and deliver these models for approval by relevant stakeholders. Develop and maintain the
data taxonomy
aligned with the conceptual and logical models.
Solution Delivery Support: Support solution architects and delivery teams by ensuring all solutions conform to the established data architecture standards and models.
Participate in solution design reviews to validate data architecture alignment.
Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the liaison between business units, IT, and EA teams to ensure business needs are effectively translated into data architecture requirements. Facilitate cross-functional teams to drive collaboration and alignment on data architecture initiatives.
Requirements:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
10+ years of experience in data architecture, data management, or enterprise architecture.
Proven experience in defining and governing data architecture frameworks, principles, and standards.
Strong background in data modeling, including conceptual, logical, and physical models.
Hands-on experience with data modeling tools (e.g., Erwin, Sparx EA, etc.) and the ability to work with stakeholders to create detailed data models.
Experience establishing and running data governance boards and forums.
Solid understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman).
Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and data technologies like data lakes, warehouses, and Big Data solutions.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Experience in industries with complex data environments (e.g., finance, healthcare, telecom) is good to have.
Certification in Data Management (e.g., CDMP) or Enterprise Architecture (e.g., TOGAF) would be a plus.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
