Job DescriptionAt ALSAC, we are dedicated to supporting core organizational functions through robust and efficient database infrastructure systems. We are seeking a talented Database Engineer to join our team and ensure the stability, integrity, and optimal performance of our on-premises and cloud database systems.

Role Overview:

As a Database Engineer - IT Infrastructure, you will play a critical role in defining requirements and implementing methods to monitor, maintain, support, and optimize our database systems. Your expertise in communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills will be essential in identifying, communicating, and resolving issues to maximize the benefits of our IT systems investments.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement strategies for monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing database systems.

Ensure the stability and integrity of on-premises and cloud database infrastructure.

Apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to resolve issues and enhance system performance.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support core organizational functions.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.

Minimum of 8-10 years of relevant work experience, or 10-12 years of progressive information system experience with 8-10 years in an Infrastructure or System Engineer role.

Certifications in one or more of the following technologies are preferred: Microsoft, VMware, Red Hat, AWS, or Azure.

Technical Expertise:

Expert-level experience with MS SQL Server, Analysis Services, SQL Server Integration Services, SQL Server Management Studio, SQL Server Reporting Services, and related database services.

Experience with Oracle and MySQL databases in Windows and Linux environments.

Proficiency in database infrastructure cloud components and services.

Expertise in database clustering and replication.

Strong knowledge of core data center systems, including MS SQL Server.

Familiarity with antivirus software configurations related to database best practices.

Experience with server virtualization as it relates to database performance.

Proficiency in PowerShell scripting.

Knowledge of enterprise-class storage array resource pools, volumes, LUN allocation, thin provisioning, migration, and replication as it relates to database systems.

Hardware, software, and network troubleshooting experience related to database systems.

Extensive knowledge of data privacy practices and laws, including PII and PCI.

Skills and Abilities:

Excellent project management and troubleshooting skills.

Proven experience in designing, developing, and implementing database systems in an enterprise environment.

Strong understanding of systems planning, security principles, and general systems management best practices.

Good understanding of current and legacy versions of Windows Server, VMware vSphere, and RHEL.

Strong written and oral communication skills.

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to present ideas in user-friendly language.

Highly self-motivated and directed with keen attention to detail.

Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

Strong customer service orientation.

Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
