As a
System Administrator
, you will play a crucial role in collaborating with Government Support staff to execute system backup and restoration operations. You will develop, maintain, and utilize documented Standard Operational Procedures (SOPs) aligned with ITIL and industry best practices to meet application/system owner requirements.
This role will be a Full-Time onsite position at Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA).Responsibilities:Implement processes to provide support and assistance to ensure system and infrastructure backups are completed, when scheduled, as requiredFollow Enterprise directives and procedures to periodically test backup and restore operations procedures where applicableAid with documenting all backup and restoration operations in logs to allow for auditing of the activityAssist with and make recommendations to the Government to improve processes, tools, and/or procedures that will improve backup efficiency and reliabilityAssist with the coordination of appropriate government activity or agency in the resolution of any issues with backup/restore processes.Ensure all backups and other removable media are encrypted in accordance with Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) or other DoD/Federal requirements; all backups and other removable media shall be properly labeled and properly stored in fire-resistant vaults for operational back-ups (on-site storage) and historical backups (off-site storage) in accordance with Enterprise policies directives and proceduresMonitor daily performance alarms, errors, and outage trendsReview product delivery and host acceptance duties; verify hand receipts/ownership responsibilitiesConfirm diagrams, sustainment & operational documentation are available to the support staffTrack pertinent system information, architecture, and performance; identify significant metricsSubmit all Circuit Management request, submit all circuit request; perform all circuit sustainment actions to include Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), Toll Free Number and DSN activitiesDefine and create Avaya system permissions and skill level access.Update and document VOIP system structureUpdate and document VOIP VLAN Configuration and submit all VLAN requests to IPVM via Service Now ticketUpdate and document VOIP File Server settingsUpdate and document Avaya Ports, Protocols, and Services Management (PPSM)Maintain credentials to access hosted environmentsParticipate in project, leadership, DGIS, and other telecommunication related meetingsManage and troubleshoot new or existing server operating systems for related infrastructure software and hardwareAdminister day-to-day sustainment, integrity, security and availability of infrastructure platformsExecute capacity analysis, maintain security posture of infrastructure systems, and monitor performanceCreate standard operating procedures, maintenance guides, and knowledge base articles, as necessary to ensure proper documentation is established for the operational upkeep of the infrastructure platformsPerform platform maintenance upgrades to ensure a proper security and operational posture is maintainedAssist architecture and engineering with evaluation, making recommendations and testing of infrastructure hardware and software productsSupport End User Devices (EUD), as requiredQualifications and Education
Requirements
:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science
, Engineering, or a related field.Active DoD Secret Clearance required.Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.Preferred Skills:Knowledge and expertise in Red Hat Linux OSExperience providing support for Virtual Machines (VM)Experience executing Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) complianceExperience providing support
for Group Policy Objects (GPO)Experience providing support
