OpenStack Engineer

We are seeking a Compute Engineer to lead the delivery of our clients advanced on-premises cloud platform, built on OpenStack. In this role, you'll be responsible for the design, development, and support of the platform, driving its implementation and growth. Collaboration is essential, as you'll partner with Linux Engineers, Developers, Security experts, and other infrastructure teams.
The firms approach centers around automation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and CI/CD practices. By utilizing open-source tools and adhering to industry best practices, they strive to streamline platform delivery and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, deploy, and maintain a secure, scalable cloud platform
Optimize workload deployments on the private cloud infrastructure
Recommend and implement continuous improvements to the platform
Contribute to the upstream OpenStack open-source community
Perform diagnostics, tuning, and capacity planning to ensure smooth scaling
Enhance platform security and support systems
Act as a platform advocate, gathering feedback from users, providing support, and addressing feature requests
Mentor junior engineers and help foster their growth

Who We’re Looking For:
Ideal candidates will have the following skills and experience:
5+ years of experience managing OpenStack in production environments
Proven experience with CEPH Storage clusters
Expertise in architecting, managing, and upgrading large-scale OpenStack deployments
Strong proficiency with Linux systems and troubleshooting
Advanced experience with infrastructure automation tools like Ansible and Terraform
Proficiency in at least one programming language, preferably Python
Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols
Familiarity with CI/CD tools and version control systems like Jenkins and Git
Experience with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
Knowledge of server hardware, including BMC/Redfish
Additional Desirable Skills:
Experience with Kolla Ansible or similar OpenStack deployment tools
Bare metal provisioning using Ironic or MaaS
Familiarity with HashiCorp tools, especially Vault and Terraform
Experience with HPC clusters and Infiniband
SRE experience, particularly with monitoring solutions, SLIs, and SLOs
