Job Title: Bender Applications EngineerDepartment: Sales/MarketingFLSA Status: Exempt

Summary

Under direct supervision of the Applications Manager, Lasertube, Press Brake, analyzes the customer’s application requirements and selects the equipment that would best fit their needs. Conducts demonstrations and applications tests and studies on behalf of customers in applications. Provides advanced technical support to Regional Managers and Product Manager.

Essential Functions

Analyzes customer drawings to determine the feasibility of an application utilizing BLM’s product offerings.Evaluates and conducts time studies to determine the most effective machine solution for the customer in a timely fashion.Performs a thorough application analysis; recommends a best fit bender solution for the customer.Conducts bender demonstrations for customers at the BLM GROUP USA facility in Novi, MI.Works with Applications Manager(s) and Bender Product Manager(s) to maintain the equipment, tooling, and demonstration material inventory in the BLM GROUP USA Solution Center.Manages customer service tickets submitted for bender applications-related topics.Occasionally supports customers in the field with advanced training and/or applications.Commissioning and calibration of Solutions Center benders.Responsible for the development of demonstration parts.Presentation of bender software at tradeshows.Assists with the development of Sales Tools for new features or machines.Maintains a positive rapport and business relationship with customers by providing outstanding customer service.Travel to Italy 1-2 times per year for continual training in software and hardware of BLM GROUP products.Travel up to 30% as needed by management.Maintains a safe work environment and operates within OSHA/MIOSHA guidelines.Communicates with other departments as necessary.Ability to work overtime as required by workload and customer necessity.Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Associate’s degree in a related technical field; prior experience or equivalent military training may be substituted for a degree.At least three (3) years of bending experience across multiple applications including bender setup, bender service, bender maintenance experience, or CNC bender part programming.

Licensing/Certifications

Valid Driver’s License with no more than two (2) points on a driving record within a three (3) year period.

Knowledge, Skills, and other Abilities

Thorough understanding of bending tool designs and how they apply to specific machine and part applications.Thorough knowledge and understanding of statistical evaluations.Thorough knowledge and understanding of robotic cell integration.Must be able to help advise others within the department with respect to technical matters.Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).Able to effectively use the Internet.Highly organized.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Must be able to work effectively with minimal supervision.Must have excellent time management skills.Able to effectively work with all levels of team members and all types of customer personalities.Fluent in Italian preferred, but not necessary.
