Salary:
$17.00/hr + commensurate with experience 209-day work calendar for 24-25 school year.Under the guidance and supervision of the Safety and Security Manager, the Campus Safety Monitor is responsible for helping to provide a secure school environment in order to ensure the safety and welfare of students, employees, and visitors while on campus.Duties:Monitors/reviews security cameras as needed.Reports unsafe or unhealthy conditions to campus administrators.Assists administration or public officials in emergency situations as needed.Assists with traffic flow and parking on campus grounds.Maintains a high level of visibility in order to deter unsafe and/or illegal behavior by monitoring hallways and common areas and patrolling campus grounds and parking lots.Collaborates with administration to enforce district policies regarding weapons, tobacco, and illegal substances.Resolves student conflicts in a safe and professional manner.Remains calm in potentially volatile situations in order to diffuse confrontational situations between students or others.Communicates school policies and procedures to students, employees and visitors to ensure understanding of expectations and potential consequences.Reports any inappropriate activities or unauthorized persons on or around campus to appropriate personnel. Escorts unauthorized visitors off campus.Responds immediately to reports of drugs, weapons, or other emergencies in the school.Assists administration during emergency planning drills such as fire drills, tornado drills, and lock downs (shelter in place).Collaborates with campus administration to develop, monitor, and implement a school safety program.Conducts home visits to investigate possible truancy and explain potential consequences of truancy to parents/guardians.Understands and complies with all district policies, procedures, and expectations, as articulated in the employee handbook or as communicated by administration.Other duties as assigned.Skills/Qualifications:Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals.Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.Ability and/or willingness to learn to use and understand Microsoft Office for spreadsheets, letters and other written communication in order to effectively communicate information with employees, administration and the Board.Ability to apply common sense, problem solving and mediation skills, and a mature attitude to a variety of situations.Ability to communicate with people in a professional manner.Ability to make quick and sound judgments in a fast-paced environment.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to grasp, handle or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.Requirements:High School Diploma or GED.CPR training preferred or willingness to become certified.
