Mid-Level Traffic Engineer
to support our growing Traffic Engineering Department in the
Mid-Atlantic region
located in
Springfield, VA, Washington, DC, Columbia, MD, Virginia Beach, VA or Camp Hill, PA . The position may be filled at a higher position depending on the qualifications.What you’ll be doing:The candidate should have a strong background in developing traffic engineering design plans for construction. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:Prepare design plans for various traffic engineering tasks involving various intersection safety and multimodal improvements as well as large infrastructure projects.Prepare traffic signal design plans for new intersections and signal modifications to facilitate multimodal accommodations.Prepare traffic management plan (TMP) and temporary traffic control plans, permanent signing and pavement marking plans.Assist in preparing conceptual intersection layouts, schematics, signal timings, corridor studies and analysis, road safety audits and engineering reports.Prepare quantities and develop PS&E packages supporting highway design projects.Collaborate with a diverse team of professionals including engineers, transportation planners and landscape architects.Attend project meetings with clients.Support Project Managers in various project management activities such as assisting in developing scope and fee proposals, presentations, and reports.What you need to have:BS in Civil Engineering or equivalent.3-7 years of traffic engineering experience.EIT is required, PE is preferred.Must be proficient in MicroStation or AutoCAD.Familiarity with VDOT and/or DDOT standards, MUTCD and AASHTO.Proficiency in traffic analyses software packages.Attention to details and quality-driven approach.To be a successful Volkert, you must possess the following characteristics:Be a Brand Ambassador for the company who engages in diversity and inclusion.Be self-motivated to meet individual goals and maintain accountability in a team environment.Be able to multi-task in a team environment.Exercise initiative and independent judgement in the solution of work problems.Be able to communicate effectively—verbal and written.
