Health Information Management Specialist

Compensation : $17.50/hrThe Health Information Management Specialist performs the clerical/administrative duties for the Health Information Management Department.This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.Responsibilities of the Health Information Management Specialist:Answer telephone and provide assistance to callers in a pleasant and professional manner.Receive, review to make sure authorization is HIPAA compliant and dated properly then enter in the Authorization of Disclosure log.Ensure name, birthdate, and number are on every page of requested medical records.Mail, email, or fax records to the requestor after the request has been filled along with affidavit if requested, verifying records being sent are the correct records of dates requested.Prepare invoices for records that require billing.Release records within 15 days from receipt of request.Send Medical Source Statements to provider to be completed after fee has been collected.Sort, prepare and scan documents into EHR.Audit ten percent of daily scanned documents to ensure the material is scanned properly and in the proper location within the EHR.Assist with chart conversions and purges as needed.Other duties as assigned.Minimum Requirements:High School/GED preferred.At least two (2) years’ experience preferred.Compass Health Network
