2405 - 266613 - Sr. Project Engineer

The Senior Project Engineer will drive innovative product designs and design for manufacturing solutions for new and existing products at DeRoyal. The projects will span all divisions at DeRoyal and will create rewarding and challenging opportunities to achieve new heights in their career. DeRoyal is looking for an experienced engineer with an understanding of medical device design with a strong foundation in mechanical engineering and manufacturing (design for manufacturing, plastic injection molding manufacturing methods, RF welding, etc.). This position will require an individual to lead or support all aspects of medical device engineering project management and development including design requirements, design, testing, documentation, prototyping, etc.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

that a Senior Project Engineer will be expected to perform. Other duties may be assigned.

Some key responsibilities include:

Medical Device Design Project Management

CAD part/assembly design, SolidWorks preferred

Design Requirements management

Development Activities

Prototyping

Verification and Validation testing

Design control documentation

Design for manufacturing

Supporting medical device regulatory needs

Prepare and update Project Plans and Capital Expenditure Requests as needed for new projects.

Track and manage project timelines, activities, expenses, and development efforts for assigned projects.

Prepares detailed component and product drawings on CAD (Computer Aided Design).

Oversee external vendor or contract partner relationships for assigned projects.

Directs and coordinates manufacturing or building of prototype products, if necessary.

Creates and maintains “Design History File” for all engineering projects.

Analyzes test data and reports to determine if the design meets functional and performance specifications.

Participates in new product development teams and product launch teams to facilitate the introduction of new products.

Applies engineering theory and problem-solving techniques to address product design, mechanical, and fabrication issues.

Monitors trends in engineering technology and assists with recommendations that will help us to maintain our technical edge.

Participates in the design, specification, and start-up of manufacturing equipment.

Provides support for the development of manufacturing specifications and procedures.

Provide technical support to manufacturing, quality, marketing, customer service, and management as needed.

Provides support to less tenured engineers as required.

Approves technical information (drawings, specification sheets, protocols, summary reports, etc.) that are generated by other engineers.

Leads discussions around improvements in engineering or manufacturing processes and procedures.

Takes leadership role on technical project teams as required.

Works with a minimum of supervision.

Arrives at work on time and complies with company attendance and tardiness policies.

Possesses the ability to get along with co-workers, customers, and company visitors.

Performs other duties assigned by supervisor including participating in “special projects” assignments as required.

Travel requirements up to 20%

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in an engineering discipline from an accredited four-year college or university and a minimum of 5 years of related experience. A Masters degree from an accredited university or college is preferred.
