As a traffic engineer, you are responsible for collecting data, conducting traffic operations and safety analyses, analyzing alternatives, documentation, and client engagement.Work Location: Hybrid, in-office as neededResponsibilitiesCollaborate with a team of transportation professionals to deliver projects for State and County agenciesLead data collection activities including traffic counts, crash data, and origin-destination dataTraffic operations analysis for a wide range of transportation projectsConduct crash analysis and predict future crash benefits for improvementsManage traffic tasks for studies and preliminary design projectsRepresent Sambatek at meetings with clients, counties, cities, and other key stakeholdersParticipate in quality review processes, track and mitigate risks, and coordinate resource allocationParticipate in business development and assist in pursuits and proposal developmentMentor and teach support staffQualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on traffic/transportation engineeringPE in Civil Engineering, 4+ years of relevant experience (PTOE license preferred)Synchro/SimTraffic and/or VISSIM experience highly preferredActively engage in local, statewide, and/or national professional organizationsDriven to exceed expectations, win over clients, and build strong relationshipsReputation and network, experience with MnDOT and MN countiesExperience managing county or state traffic tasks on projectsExperience with traffic engineering software including HCS, Synchro/SimTraffic, VISSIM, Corsim, Rodel, and IHSDMExperience with evaluation of traffic projects for freeways, arterial corridors, and intersections; including signals, roundabouts, and other innovative intersection control designsExperience in multi-modal projects including pedestrian, bicyclist, transit, and freightPreparation of traffic impact analyses (TIA), traffic operation modeling, traffic signal warrant studies, and intersection control evaluations (ICE)Signal timing, controller experience and traffic signal design experience preferredStrong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to coordinate public engagement activitiesPossess critical thinking skills and independent engineering judgementKnowledge of federal, state, and local guidance and standardsPhysical Demands and Work EnvironmentWork is primarily performed in an office environmentAbility to occasionally move equipment/objects weighing up to 10 poundsSambatek, LLC is an equal opportunity employer and values diversity in its workforce.
